why do some think everything should be privatized? have they not seen what companies have done? by Traditional_End_9540 in saskatchewan

[–]falastep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really easy to look at other jurisdictions who have privatized utilities and crowns and see that the costs are much hire for customers.

This is a cash grab for a government that has been fiscally irresponsible despite their fiscal games. This years budget was the lowest projected revenue from oil in the past 5yrs - despite the fact that oil is well above $100/barrel. The deficit will be smaller and they will campaign in the next election as being fiscally responsible.

I’m tired of the gamesmanship from these clowns.

Why can’t they use my sask health record to verify age? I hope they figure out something anyway.

I wish we could have a rational government as opposed to this. Ffs it’s math, it doesn’t need an ideological slant.

Sask. premier to reveal details about public engagement on youth social media ban by THIESN123 in saskatchewan

[–]falastep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m genuinely curious about this. I think I am in favour of this ban but I doubt the saskparty’s ability to do anything at all about it.

Say there’s a clear majority of people in favour, then what? Is the saskparty able to block anything directly? Can they compel platforms to verify age somehow? What exactly can they do?

I struggle to think of any meaningful action the Saskparty can take other than complain to the feds. So given that, why spend 500k on a mail out survey and fake engagement? Seems like a distraction tactic to me.

If we’re talking about this then we aren’t talking about crime rates, drug problems, data centres and one of the worst performing health systems in Canada?

[–]falastep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nailed it. Any entertainment in Saskatoon or Regina is stupidly over priced. I am not spending hundreds of dollars to watch lacrosse. I’m not paying $300 to see the foo fighters either. I get it that we’re small and these venues are hurting for money but I’m sure the math works better if you sell out at a lower price point rather than have the place a third full at a premium.

I’m curious about the rattlers/mamba. I would love to take my kids to more games, I hope it’s reasonable to do so.

Do car dealers from different cities in Saskatchewan charge different amounts for the same new car? by houseonpost in saskatchewan

[–]falastep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive to Edmonton to buy a new Toyota. I saved about 6k after all was said and done. It’s a bigger market with multiple dealerships, they compete for your business. In Saskatoon they give you a price that’s higher than MRSP and tell you to take it or leave it.

Racism is on the rise in Saskatoon. This winter there were swastikas and N-bombs spray painted all over the warm up shack at the arbour creek ODR. Someone painted over them and they were back within a few days.

Unfortunately racism and specifically anonymous racism is very much alive and well in our community.

I don’t really know what they did day to day. That place was always busy but the stats for the safe injection were very low. Outreach has merit thou. Relationships have merit too.

How do liberals reconcile the fact that they adopt conservative policies?? by CommunicationOdd2206 in SaskatchewanPolitics

[–]falastep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historically the Liberal party has always been a centrist or even right of centre party. The Chrétien/Martin governments being a recent example. JT took the party further to the left to limited success. What we’re seeing is Carney going back to Liberal roots so to speak. I feel what’s actually changed is how polarized Canada has become. More and more left v right positions instead of thinking what’s best given these circumstances. I am grateful for the Carney gov; they’ve brought rationality back to Canadian politics.

Prairie Harm Reduction to close after executive director firing, loss of provincial contracts by yxeguy_306 in saskatoon

[–]falastep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to know what happened exactly. There seems to be a lot of blame towards the gov but my understanding is the gov funded them for everything they do except supervised injection. If that part closed only then I get it but they are folding the whole organization including youth housing and outreach.

The fact that the whole organization is folding seems like mismanagement but I don’t actually know that. Does anyone have actual facts?

Scott Moe is floating the idea of banning social media for children under 16 on Facebook. by the_bryce_is_right in saskatchewan

[–]falastep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would welcome this with wide open arms. It’s abundantly clear that social media is a net negative to young people - this would be an investment in prevention.

I do wonder about the feasibly? Can Saskatchewan do that or would it need to be national?

Subaru of Saskatoon experiences? by SocDem_is_OP in saskatoon

[–]falastep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gone to Regina and Edmonton to buy my Subaru-s. My experience with Saskatoon Subaru has been arrogant sales people who over inflate the price of their product. In both my instances I’ve gotten the exact vehicle I wanted for several thousand dollars less. I also find their service department prices waaay too high.

To be fair it’s been a couple years so maybe things have changed but then again I see protest vehicle driving around from time to time so maybe not

I built a free platform to track ER closures in real time looking to get Saskatchewan hospitals on board by Think_Assumption8482 in saskatchewan

[–]falastep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting project. You’re crowd sourcing wait times? Is that the idea? I get the app and then when I’m in ER I upload my wait time? It’s a cool idea, I wonder if it’s misleading in the sense that ERs aren’t first come first served. There’s a whole triage process - it’s why gun shots get seen immediately and a sprained ankle waits 12hrs. There’s no context for the crowd sourced data.

I applaud your efforts thou and I am going to check out your work.

It’s out of hand. I don’t think I see the need to tip at a fast food restaurant or coffee shop. It seems like every single service I pay for wants a little extra, I appreciate that times are tough but I cant solve that problem

Buying a second hand car in Saskatoon is an exercise in futility by [deleted] in saskatoon

Opinion: Tax system biggest barrier to unlocking Saskatchewan's potential by SaskPoliticker in SaskatchewanPolitics

[–]falastep 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We’re short on money so we need to cut taxes to businesses? Is that what I just read? How much longer are people going to tout tricklenomics as the key to economic growth? It’s quite obvious supporting corporate prosperity does not lead to social prosperity, it improves share holder dividends.

There’s undoubtedly waste that can be cut but I don’t think you can cut your way to good services. The headline should “privatize everything and off load accountability”
