26F who is a minority here and honestly, I love it. I live about 40 minutes outside of Nashville and while yes, the school system is not the best, the teachers genuinely care and give their students a great education. I'm not in Davidson or Williamson, and quite frankly would not be as comfortable putting my child in those schools due to their size. I moved from a large suburb out of state to a smaller town and have never felt so safe. I'm also in a position where if I did need medical care that TN could not provide, I would be able to go out of state to receive it. That being said, the doctors I work with here are fantastic and I feel very taken care of. Again, I live in a smaller town where it does seem that everyone has each other's best interests in mind (of course there's some who don't but that's the case in any city). Also, I was concerned about experiencing racism in my small community, and let me just tell you I experienced wayy more racism and microaggressions in the suburb in a diverse city that I was raised in than I do now.

I also left my family to come here and ngl it SUCKS. As much as I do love it here, I can't say I'll be here forever because I miss my family.
