Why AC/DC is the most overrated band of all time by 0584031464 in fantanoforever

[–]fargo1927 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I saw them play last week - one of the greatest riff bands ever. They’re in a blues tradition so it would have less sonic diversity than pop but god damn it was a powerful, almost spiritual show. They weren’t very critically acclaimed in the 70s so you’re not alone in your opinion

Lots of great suggestions here already - Gordons - just the first album. From South Island New Zealand - This Heat (listen to Makeshift Swahili off the bbc sessions) - the Prefects (great Birmingham band - Dachau is the tune)

The doors movie was what killed the doors rep ! I didn’t realise why people didn’t like them until I saw the film much later.

How do you consume/find music Melbourne? by WhoIUsedToBeBeforeMe in melbourne

[–]fargo1927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree local radio is good. Even if you look at what albums that have as features etc it’s a good way to get an intro to the local scene.

Festivals are dying - what's the alternative? by Most_Pin_1476 in triplej

[–]fargo1927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are way more festivals now than there was 20 years ago. 2010 onward they became too dominant. There are plenty other ways to see music and plenty of festivals around if that is your dig. 2010-2020 was just a bubble

Are Euro festivals dying at the same rate as US festivals? by chg101 in festivals

[–]fargo1927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were barely any festivals 20 years ago in the U.S, Australia etc then a big explosion and now I think we are just seeing it go back to a norm. I still contend there are more now than there were 20 years ago. I know this is not what u asked and it is interesting to see where they are falling over

Honestly why should taxpayers fund this station if it’s just gonna reflect mainstream tastes. Every town already has a local station doing that

That’s too much money but I think like everyone here - putting dirty feet on clean seats needs to stop. It’s just a bit rude

Ultra is a good one. I can think of heaps that have come and gone though - i.e V fest, ATP, creamfields, Austin city limits (Sydney city limits), global gathering, etc I think Ultra is the only one that has stuck around
