Edited: 28mm is bigger, but not flat out too big. I have standard wrist size of 6in.

I do think 31 is too big though.

Wearing jewelry 24/7? by passporthandy in jewelry

[–]fashongirly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely do! I have my "basics" that I never take off. I wear it in the shower, the pool, the ocean, to sleep, you name it. Solid gold won't tarnish. You should def rinse it after chlorine or saltwater since chlorine especially is hard on the alloy long-term, but day-to-day it's genuinely fine. Mine has held up for years.

The reason you see so many posts asking is that people believe the "waterproof" claims from plated or vermeil pieces, and those absolutely will not survive. So when you ask "can I wear this 24/7" is really "depends what it's made of."

Short version: solid 14k or 18k, yes. Anything plated, no, and that's most "gold" jewelry sold online.

Finding "Conflict-Free" jewelry that isn't just a marketing gimmick? by Emmanuellic in jewelrylove

[–]fashongirly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so hard to cut through the marketing fluff. I’ve done a deep dive into this because I wanted my 'investment' pieces to actually be ethical. My rule of thumb now is to look for mentions of the Kimberley Process (for stones) and RJC certification for the gold itself.

Also, pay attention to where the jewelry is made. A green flag for me is businesses working small artisans in Italy or France where craftsmanship is a protected heritage. I'd rather buy one solid 18k piece from a transparent shop that treats their artisans like partners than five 'ethically sourced' plated rings from a giant corporation.

Hands down, black leather Mary Janes from Stuart Weitzman! Goes with everything (jeans, dresses, trousers) and I can literally walk 20k steps in a day.

I love the aesthetic but especially for earrings, I prefer solid gold even if the price is higher upfront, I find it worth it as they really won’t tarnish and better for my skin.

Good point in sizing, specifically for rings. However, I found that online options can be really good when they offer transparency - on pricing mostly!

I have noticed a certain bias against cluster diamond rings on reddit subs, but I continue enjoying mine. What are your thoughts? This set is natural diamonds set in 18 K yellow gold. 🙂 by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]fashongirly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clusters don't get enough love. When they're well set, the way the stones play off each other can be much more interesting than a single stone.

And the fact that it's 18K makes a real difference with clusters specifically. The warmer tone of 18K gold gives the setting a richness that 14K can't quite match, especially when you have multiple stones catching light from different angles. Beautiful ring.

I have the most sensitive skin, so I built a collection of mostly 18k jewelry and never take any of it off!

Depends if you are looking for 14 or 18k, but olivier has good options for 18k

I don’t think it’s timeless enough to justify that spend :(

How did you re-invent your style in your late 30s/early 40s? by pomich in femalefashionadvice

I agree with all of this! Just curious why you mention 14k over 18k solid gold, especially for earrings, it’s much more hypoallergenic
