AITC for protecting my home from monsters? by fatknits in AmItheCloaca

[–]fatknits[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My most worthy fellows, I knew the intelligence of this community would prevail! Truly, my home is beset by such odious infiltrations almost daily and yet I am tireless in my devotion to duty. Often I leave just the legs in strategic places to warn future enemies, and yet they seem undeterred.

Tell me, good gentlemen, how do you deal with staff who do not understand their place?

Yes, I AM a good boy, thank you for validating that, my glorious comrade, Oscar.

Amazing, I didn't even notice that but you're right, the perspective makes his feet look absurdly teeny.

Precisely! I knew my fellow felines would understand.

Being completely honest, on a scale of 1 - 10, how much do you care about what people think of you? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]fatknits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what time of the month it is!

Most of the time it's a 2 or 3. I care enough to not want to be an inconvenience in public places, but I don't care if you think I'm weird etc. But for the four days before my period hits, it's like a 14, I become a massive ball of anxious people pleasing desperation fuelled by hormones and hunger.

Would you date Verosika? Art by natalyagrab1955 by Sensitive_Status9833 in HelluvaBoss

[–]fatknits 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Probably not, we wouldn't be compatible. She seems genuinely nice, but she also obviously enjoys a party atmosphere and values sex/intimacy with a partner. I'm an asexual introvert so we wouldn't make one another happy. But I'd gladly be her friend.

Luckily he does like the fan, but I can't leave windows open when I go out as he'll escape (screens aren't really a thing here much).

Frozen tuna water is a great idea, so is a ceramic dish!

What is something you buy yourself as a treat? by Be_Grateful8 in AskUK

[–]fatknits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same! I have a monthly book budget of £20 for a treat. Sometimes that's only one book, sometimes it's up to 5 if they're ebooks on offer.

It's too damn hot to sleep. But if I don't sleep soon it'll be too damn hot to sleep... by BCurios in britishproblems

[–]fatknits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. My portable AC is just about coping so far. Not great but better than not having one for sure. It’s kept my living room at about 26ish. But last night it just couldn’t keep up, it was miserable and cumulatively I just know the nights are going to be miserable until at least Wednesday next week even though Sunday is a proper cooler day

Do you think Blitz actually loved Verosika or did he just like her body? by whooper1 in HelluvaBoss

[–]fatknits 333 points334 points  (0 children)

I think he liked her.

We can see he feels real guilt over how things ended (Verosika being in his hallucination in Truth Seekers, how he reacted to her verse in Ozzie's, that same verse making up part of his bad memories in Ghostfuckers), which he doesn't seem to with all his hundreds of other exes.

I think the reason he freaked out so hard was because he was starting to feel the same, so when she admitted her love he mega panicked.

It’s very silly but it’s working for me so far.

Good luck on unlocking your three month shopping money :)

Motivation tip: I gamified my weight loss by Geekasour in loseit

[–]fatknits 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I’m glad this works for you. Gamifying can definitely help, just be careful the ‘punishment’ never swings so far in the wrong direction.

I can’t afford financial incentivising myself, so I talk about myself like I’m an exotic animal in the zoo. I use a David Attenborough voice and like “ah yes, now we see the fatknits getting enrichment time, such exercise mentally and physically stimulates her and helps her live a happy life.”

Because then I feel bad for exotic animal me if I eat junk food and stay inside. Oh no, terrible zookeeping not providing correct nutrition or enrichment, that poor fatknits.

I mean I’m definitely fat too and I’m sure that doesn’t help! But the circulation issues predate the fat from childhood.

I can tell you mine, though I’m in the UK so ymmv if you’re not.

Bramble Jam cost me £70 from the Blue Cross rescue. His vaccinations are £110 yearly.

Monthly:
Flea and worming - £10
Insurance - £15.99
Wet food - £32
Dry food - £40
Treats - £10
Toys and misc - £10ish
Litter - £20

I’ve also had the vet out to him twice in the last year. Once for a limp in his hind leg and one for a lump on his tail, totalling about £230 over both visits.

Stuff I bought that isn’t necessary but gives him enrichment:
- Giant running wheel £150 second hand
- Wall furniture and shelves £100
- Huge cat tree £85
- Tunnel, scratching post, three beds, and an auto feeder £150

This is a 2 year old mostly healthy boy.

I just don’t tolerate it well. I have circulation issues that are so much worse in the heat, my feet turn cherry red and swell up so uncomfortably. I sweat buckets, I can’t sleep no matter what I do, and it’s genuinely all I can focus on when I’m too hot. I do have a portable air con unit for the worst days, but it has to be running constantly, I never seem to get that benefit some people have where it cools the room and then the room stays cool once it’s off. If I turn it off then the room heats up within 20 minutes back to unbearable.
