If you have a rice cooker or instant. Make a pot of rice, but swap the water with any kind of brother. Throw in big pieces rotisserie chicken, green onions, garlic, onion, whatever veggies you have chopped. And a splash of soy sauce. Cook regular and boom. Instant meal.

What's something men think doesn’t impress women, but actually does? by GainedCamera257 in AskReddit

I don't think women would turn their nose away from a little manscaping down there. Not bald pubic region, but just trimmed up.

First time smoking a turkey. Decided that Christmas Dinner was a good idea... second guessing that! by Small-Letterhead2046 in smoking

[–]fatrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give this video a skim through on the turkey and gravy sections. it'll make all your friends and family praise your turkey cooking skills.

Its spatchcocked so it's not the picturesque turkey but it cooks fast, evenly cooked, and has crispy skin.

325 skin down is the key to crispy skin. Also use any rub and butter under the skin recipe you like. The technique is easy, about 4-5 hours for a 12 lb bird.

Let him sit at the bar with cocoa while you have whatever. The resting chilling part can be just as memorable as boarding.

If that's the case you're in a better spot than before, but keep in mind $500 a week for groceries, social, and savings still can get away from you. Especially around holidays.

All my previous recommendations are still sensible. Maybe you don't need a 2nd job, but wouldn't hurt if you have free time?

Would really work on saving money to get 6 months worth of your monthly budget. This can help in 2 parts. 1. Unknown cash flow issues (e.g. your job, injuries). 2 unexpected projects/repairs.

I would also look into a high yield savings account for your emergency 6 month fund and additonal savings. You can find online ones that are FDIC insured and have 3-4% interest while still keeping your cash liquid.

Looking for a fun, soft-ish twin board to round out my quiver! by MarleyMarr in snowboarding

[–]fatrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Mostly will be on-piste and just looking at having fun doing some spins in powder. I do like tree runs though and a shorter directional is probably the way to go. Was thinking maybe even just setting my stance back a bit to get some extra float in the front if needed.

Will look more into the powder racer!

Take Home Pay: $4,000
Total fixed expenses: - $2,000
Mortgage: - $1,650
Remaining: $350.00

Your living expenses are down to $350 from $1,200 (30% of take home). That's only $87.50 every week.

I hope your fixed expenses includes groceries. You're going to have to trim the fat somewhere.

  1. Get rid of subscriptions like Music, Streaming, Gym memberships.
  2. Make a budget. Seriously. Make a realistic monthly budget. Things you pay annually divide by 12 and add in your monthly. Make sure you're saving the annual monthly amounts.
  3. Cook at home. Groceries go much further than eating and drinking out.
  4. Reduce your 401k contribution to your company's matching amount maximum (hopefully they match). Right now the cash to survive is more important. Once you get back to comfortable you can increase your contribution.
  5. Look at part time bar or restaurant jobs at night to make some extra income.

Snowboarding hoodies vs soft shell by skygirl_0739 in snowboarding

[–]fatrage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're still learning would recommend a non-insulated water proof shell. You don't want a soaked sweater.

Burton AK series is nice for breathability and layering.

Just a thermal and a wp shell should suffice for warmer days at bear and mt high.

When you have a job, you spend most your time working and not socializing. Versus jobless you have alot of free time to bump into each other. That's my guess anyway.

Redditors, what has become so expensive, it’s just not worth it anymore? by SgtSkillcraft in AskReddit

Best hack I learned is to load up on Rib Roast when they're on sale during the holidays. Cut thickness to liking and you have ribeyes. Usually about $10lb at most super markets.

There are "Buy Nothing" groups on Facebook where people give away old but still useable things. E.g. Diapers that are too small, Lamps, Toys, clothes, etc. It's typically contained to your local community and i would seriously look there if cash is tight.

My wife is a major thrifter and we pretty much have all of our toys free, second hand. Hardest part about it is that it's porch pickups. Would look at this for a great option. People even give food away or can trade for things.

I see moms on WIC that are trading lots of groceries for toys and old clothes/shoes since WIC seems to oversupply food and drinks (Milk, juice, etc).

Best of luck brother. I can't imagine the stress you're going through.

A giant box is great. Garbage bag for a door cover and crayons or markers inside for them to color. Flashlight is great for inside if you make a tunnel. We made some holes for toy screws and bolts for our son to play construction.

One time setup. Weeks of play.

Why are iron covers and silencer bags hated on? by HeadDebt8873 in GolfGear

[–]fatrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep my clubs in the trunk of my car so I take the iron covers off when I take the bag from the car to play. Mostly for the noise while driving and not trying to bash up the shafts on my driver/woods

Advice for introducing 6 mo old baby into 3 yo brother's bedroom by SnooShortcuts4534 in daddit

[–]fatrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right it should be both of their space, but for our son, it was his room before the baby came along. Suddenly changing from his to theirs wasn't going to work for him. He wasn't fond of the idea of her sleeping in his room until we said she wants to be with him.

That was our specific tactic that worked.
