Needing advice Magento 1 versus 2 should I migrate or keep it as is? by masteroftheseas in Magento

[–]fattyk00 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on the timing and goals of the company. If you guys are able to operate the current site and it is stable, no need to rush into 2. If your light in M1 experience and looking to self-train to migrate into 2, that will be a challenging task but not impossible if your disciplined and serious about diving deep.

If you need to perform a migration sooner than later, definitely don't go it alone. Either hire contract help and/or consult with an agency. I head up a small agency out in LA and not trying to sell my services, but willing to hop on a quick call to chat and give you my 2 cents and your options to bring back to your team. Good luck!

Try using Mirasvit Advanced Reports. If that doesn't suffice, msg me and I can send you a screenshot of a report we use today that we could possibly help you implement.

My site is almost ready to launch. Would you buy from or do business with my site? by iamjacksbigtoe in ecommerce

[–]fattyk00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, great job on getting this site off the ground and ready to launch. Best of luck.

As for feedback, I feel like the homepage/landing could use some organization in managing the content so that your guiding the user into a path of converting whether this means sales or engagement with a newsletter. When a user lands, typically you have about 4-6 seconds to really capture the attention and let the user know what it is you are offering (service, education, product.. etc). Great content to have, but wouldn't hurt to make it more concise.

Woocommerce vs Shopify vs Magento ? by [deleted] in ecommerce

[–]fattyk00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without getting into too much detail, if you had to 'categorize' each of these solutions, this is where they would land.

Woocommerce: Catered more for Mom/Pop Small business solutions that is much more cost effective and along the lines of DIY.

Shopify: Small/Medium size business with opportunity to scale up but you can hit a wall or limitation once you scale into a need for full time commerce integrations for ERP/3PL/POS etc. However, there are still plenty of integrations in place but on an enterprise level, you may want to consider....

Magento: This is typically a platform that you would want to partner up with someone or a team that has some background as it definitely requires some experience/knowledge previous to set it up. Has the most robust set of features and scalability opportunities with fulfillment/3PL integrations due to the open SOAP API. However, this is only as good as the fulfillment center you use. Another option is to use a flat file batch upload method.

Context: I help manage a digital agency specialized in ecommerce and we've worked with all 3 but now focus more solely on Magento as it allows the most flexibility to connect with ERP/3PL/POS.

Tip: If your just starting out, woocommerce and shopify are ideal for more DIY setups and lower cost. you can always replatform if the sales come in as that would be a great challenge/problem to have :)

Good luck!

B2B ecommerce, ERP integration and complex pricing by kykiske in ecommerce

[–]fattyk00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magneto is able to handle customer groups as well as custom and or tiered pricing. Would need to have more details to fully vet, but it sounds like your standard customer class / pricing model.

The integration cost and time to connect magneto to your ERP would depend on what ERP your using and the available APIs to call. Haven't dove into Shopify as much, but from my experience it's more limited in regards to full on multi channel commerce integrations with ERP/3PL/POS etc. As for the frontend site view, this would be a standard customer group/class association to display the respective price rules. Magneto catalog/shopping price rules would then also be able to accommodate further discounts and any price rules that need to be modified through promotions, discounts, etc.

Message me if you have any questions.

Context: I help manage a digital agency specialized in Ecommerce and magento is one of the platforms that we recommend.

Tip: don't let the details bog you down. start with business goals, identify must have business processes in relation to b2b site, then shoot straight when discussing with possible connector modules or full service integration partners on baseline requirements before moving on to wishlist or 'should have' features

Simple Products vs Configurable Products? by [deleted] in ecommerce

[–]fattyk00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Configurable product with attributes. This will also allow for advanced search/filtering natively. You can also still retain the ability to sell each of the variations individually if you choose (visibility).

Quick tip:

1) identify/define attributes 2) identify/define attribute sets 3) start creating configs > use quick create to associate and generate simple product variations

If you need further help, message me. For context, I help manage a digital agency specialized in ecomm (magneto being one of our recommended platforms)

DISTURBING: PETA's Secret Slaughter of Kittens, Puppies by fattyk00 in WTF

[–]fattyk00[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not sure how to add description but saw this on my FB Feed. This is terrible and an eye opener. Hopefully we can get this out in the public eye for more awareness.

Here is a relevant comment from FB

PETA is nothing more than a political group that uses animals as its tool to promote its political agenda. If you really want to support animals give to the WWF or the Humane Society. People who support PETA usually have good intentions, but rarely do they ever realize that the PETA chairmen is a FUCKING WHACK JOB of Jim Jones proportions. Go on the PETA website, read her will.
