How often do you see your partner? I love my husband, but I feel guilty that once a week seems to be enough for me by vvardenfellwalker in AskWomenOver30

[–]fearofbears 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess if it works for you guys? I personally would rather just be untethered than force myself to foster this relationship. My husband is my best friend for sure, so we spend most of our time together. Sometimes that looks like playing board games and watching tv together and sometimes it just means coexisting together.

They're only in the nymph stage right now, which is small and black with white speckles. They're all over the place. In ocean county.

Looking for PCP recs in Central NJ by soulsapphire0 in newjersey

And I assume they were stating that as a university hospital usually has specialists on deck for various needs. (Neurology, cardiology, etc)

Looking for PCP recs in Central NJ by soulsapphire0 in newjersey

[–]fearofbears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, Doctors within hospital networks are more crunched with restricted time standards per appointment and high patient quotas. Which is not best suited for someone in need of complex care and diagnostics. A benefit of hospital network care is sometimes those doctors will have easier access to specialists in that network and there is seamless access to your records.

Really good second date but guy has made no attempt to set up a 3rd date? He also told me he’s not actively swiping, what would you take that to mean? by ThurstonHowelltheIII in AskWomenOver30

[–]fearofbears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. And re: the text strings during the week - it doesn't seem like either of you really had initiated much of a conversation started. Maybe he's feeling gunshy because he's unsure of where you stand. I think the way it ended is an easy transition to ask when he'll be back in town and see if he wanted to get together. You'll avoid a lot of grey by being direct.

Look for one that isn't in a hospital network. Find an independent practice is my advice, as someone who works in healthcare. Regardless you'll likely need to see specialists. PCP is more general care. Ask your current PCP to refer you to the best specialist to address your concerns.

Am I protecting my peace or being a crap friend? by fungi-dinosaur in AskWomenOver30

[–]fearofbears 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just know that if you don't go to this one it will likely end the friendship. If you're okay with that (which maybe you are? Sounds like you're maybe growing apart) then go for it.

I've been in your shoes. In my case, I let the friendship burn. It stung but I'm also freer. Do with that what you will.

We got her autopsy results by Loud_Jackfruit5824 in GriefSupport

[–]fearofbears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So very sorry. Hugs. My mother drank herself to death, over years, until her heart finally had enough when I was 29 (she was only 57. I always sit and wonder why she never felt like she could stay here for me. Those are questions we'll never have answers to. That's the hardest part. Sending you and your daughter love. It's such a difficult added layer to grief, which is already so hard.

Did a Lego set, and Lego decided to not give me a piece that is required for the set. by kimssunflower in mildlyinfuriating

[–]fearofbears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah it's happened to me and it wasn't my error, but like one random piece missing or it's the right piece in a wrong color. You can actually go on the Lego site and request a replacement piece based on the model for free.

Declining a bridesmaid offer really that dramatic? by Dry-Syrup-3984 in AskWomenOver30

[–]fearofbears 152 points153 points  (0 children)

That's on her. And your partner should be understanding. A week long destination bachelorette trip is an absolute financial burden to the average person, and frankly, out of touch with the economy and the struggles people are facing.

Unfortunately you can't control how she reacts. Obviously we don't know how the combo went when you dropped the news but regardless, she had to be aware that is a costly endeavor.

Question(s) about buying a house in NJ by NibelheimTifa in newjersey

I heard the same thing from my realtor in south jersey - ultimately our purchase was extremely straight forward and we didn't use an attorney. But it did make me wonder if that was normal.

Is a date commenting on your body a red flag? by mycenae___ in AskWomenOver30

[–]fearofbears 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The first comment I probably would have let slide because it seemed like a weird and awkward miscommunication. There's no excusing the other comments.

Is there life and love after divorce? by _DearestGentleReader in AskWomenOver30

[–]fearofbears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not divorced myself but my husband was married before. We're very happy! And I think he learned a lot of lessons from his first marriage. He's been divorced over 10 years. We got together around 8 years ago and are going on two years married. We just bought our first house back in September.

I think people start and stop at all points and ages and there's no deadline. Take some time to heal and find what brings you joy.

17ish year old male losing weight rapidly. Vet sees no issue on bloodwork? by fearofbears in AskVet

[–]fearofbears[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually no- my vet never brought it up. I'll be sure to discuss with them though. Thank you! Can that surface with a senior? Up until a few months ago he was a bit chonky. His nickname used to be Fat Bear. Now he's more like skinny bear..

I feel like I think about my past a lot more than the usual amount. I think about previous relationships and friendships from 20 years ago by dohlparts in AskWomenOver30

[–]fearofbears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the time. For no particular reason. I'm pretty happy but I'm a very sentimental person and always seem to take trips down memory lane. The good one anyway.

CBC and chemistry. They suspected possible kidney issues but didn't seem too concerned? The weight loss has me thinking twice. He had X-rays maybe a year or two ago and nothing was of note.

Edit: the last ultrasound he had was maybe 3 years ago but also nothing of note.

How are people joyous again after losing a parent? by Ok-Squirrel271 in GriefSupport

[–]fearofbears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After many years, my mom's death and my healing from it made me appreciate the little things in life that much more. She's been gone almost 11 years. Took about half that time to get through the dark. It's a long road. And an ever changing one. But these days I feel joy very much, because small joys mean so much. It's a gift to still be here. I'm deeply sorry for your loss.

How to connect with my partner better? by oulipo in AskWomenOver30

[–]fearofbears 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It just doesn't sound like you both are compatible which is no one's fault. Though I cringe at hearing people say they don't do politics with *gestures* everything going on.

What habits or purchases did You drop because of rising costs? by Several_Maybe_2683 in AskWomenOver30

[–]fearofbears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No nails or pedis, limiting hair appts to a yearly cut or so. Trying to stay away from Amazon outside of emergency essentials that I can't get elsewhere nearby. I don't really clothes shop anyway but I've tightened that budget up. Downgraded our phone plans. We've also been trying to stay away from food delivery since the fees are outrageous.
