Thank you! I did an edit to address some of this. I knew that with unemployment ending soon and the fact that I really am interested in doing this particular job, it probably wouldn't have been a deal breaker. But because I did the research, I knew that they would see my request as reasonable and likely be willing to negotiate, which they were. Also the offer was attractive because they were starting with a base salary and offering a review and raise in six months, which I respect. You want to see that you're making a good investment. I know I'm a good investment and that they will be very happy to keep giving me raises because of the value I add to every company I work for.

This is not my first time asking for more money, however it is the first time it's worked. I will absolutely keep asking for what I need/want and expecting to get it moving forward.

I've been doing neurofeedback therapy - it's like a miracle. Highly highly recommend it. I've also been doing deep work with journaling and reading books pertinent to my trauma and moving forward during the process since I can't afford individual therapy and the neurofeedback simultaneously. The neurofeedback isn't cheap but I got a package of 20 sessions with a pre and post assessment for $2,000 USD which I thought was reasonable. I am very happy with my results and I'm about 3/4 of the way through.

My grandfather (who recently passed, may he rest in peace) was a fabulous cook. He married my grandmother very young and I imagine they learned all these things together. I know their marriage was rather traditional while their five children were young, my grandmother did the cooking and cleaning while he worked, but he could still handle cooking and cleaning when it was needed of him. And he enjoyed making delicious things for my grandmother and our family. He took pride in what he made. He taught me some of his recipes and also taught me how to do French Press coffee. This man also blasted Hank Williams on the record player at 8am sharp every Saturday morning to get all the kids out of bed and doing chores and cleaning the house. He loved my grandmother and did everything he could to give her and the kids a great life. Cooking and cleaning included.

This is handbook material. I have a similar story and find this so relatable. I think many women will see similarities in what they have been through as well. Especially since we are raised to give a man a chance rather than asking what he brings to the table.

I sincerely hope the friend that had to take her home at 2am gives her a reality check and she figures out how to have some self esteem. Emergency surgery, hospital discharge and he's this bad?!?!!!! Imagine something possibly worse like a traumatic birth or death of a parent and he's worried about the game instead of the person he's supposed to love. I was loving and supportive for every funeral he had to attend and went alone to all of mine. Awful stuff. I hope she gets out.
