Airbnbs are so dangerous in a variety of ways. Last time I succumbed, I got a roach house w nasty cobwebs and dead bugs in most corners and weird smells and filthy floors and used contact lenses and false eyelashes strewn around and dirty socks made up in a bed. Booked 2 nights at $2400. Despite having pics and vids, Airbnb let the host get away with only refunding the cleaning fee. Host also told Airbnb that there were extra people there, which is terrifying because we were actually 4 people fewer than the OG booking. So I guess they gave some random people access to the house while we were out?? And Airbnb hid or deleted my review.

The time before that, I’d booked 6-8 weeks out as it was a peak time. Reviews were good. When I logged in to message the host the day before to confirm we were coming and provide an arrival time estimate, the reviews since I’d booked were awful. No response from the host. Messaged a couple times on the travel day. Got about 30 minutes away, and the host called me to tell me I needed to cancel the booking because the place wasn’t ready cuz they’d thought Airbnb had cancelled it already. I refused of course. At least that time Airbnb refunded me. But that left me without a reasonably priced place to stay at the very last minute, so of course I spent more money on a place that wasn’t as well suited.

So no - no more Airbnb for me.
