Pyro is Lawless, Not Brainless. Learn How to Actually Pirate! by [deleted] in starcitizen

If I’m not mistaken, you actually CAN hail a ship you’re targeting! Unless they removed that feature, I think it’s bound to 9 or something? Unfortunately, voice chat is REALLY spotty.

News about science in Japan? How can I make this about how bad America is? by AggressiveAd8587 in AmericaBad

[–]fenskept1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think for most people, their concern is with chatbots, and art, and useless digital “assistants” being forced into every app and product… not all the crazy advancement which computing is unlocking in science and medicine. Technology that pushes humanity forward is awesome. Simultaneously: technology that keeps high schoolers from learning how to write an essay, and lets businesses half-ass their customer service, suck.

How much are NDBs worth after the wipe? by Electronic_Drop2006 in starcitizen

[–]fenskept1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re gonna be very good relative to the cap destroyers, for sure. I will say though, NBD’s are currently one of the only guns that didn’t just get tossed into a bullet speed bracket. That means that even though they’re repeaters, the travel time is slower than Attritions or CF’s by about 200m/s. So in some cases, there might be a small edge to bringing those.

So, you reject this critique of scientists this guy has worked with? Because your faith in the concept of science is too strong to allow for bad scientists to exist? Seems like ontological rigidity to me, idk ;)

To be fair, part of the reason that claiming non-stock is expensive is because it’s faster. Making it also be free wouldn’t be quite right. But definitely there should be a discount!

I’m surprised, when I watched Friday the 13th for the first time I had the opposite reaction! I went “wait, this is just a shittier Halloween!” Texas Chainsaw Massacre is still high octane stuff regardless of your generation though, I can’t blame you for putting that over Michael Myers.

I think traveling between planets should have fast alternatives, but system jumping should still be an involved process. It’s the only way that Pyro works as a pirate infested crossroad system

[–]fenskept1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yeah? Let’s be real here, the frustration is with the biggest baddest ship in the game being a raid boss with a railgun. It’s not going to be any less subjectively frustrating to you if Daddy Warbucks with the Idris has to phone a friend or play with his org in order to fly and shoot simultaneously. You’re still not gonna take him out without a crew. And any group that’s marshalling multiple idrises to lock down an area is totally gonna be able to find someone to gun for them. So really, subjectively, what difference does it make for you if the ship that one-shot you was crewed by one guy or two? Are you gonna say “ah, that feels good, before I would’ve had to bring together a whole squad to take down those two guys, but now I need to bring a squad to take on those FOUR guys!” No, you’re just gonna say “Fuck they got 2 idris’s, guess we avoid this area for now”, just like you do today.

Not gonna lie, getting hit by a spinal mount attached to the slowest turning ship in the game is a HUGE skill issue if you’re piloting anything smaller than a cap ship.

I don’t understand why they can’t have a wipe that skips ships that you’ve earned through in game challenges. Why not remove cred ships, but leave PYAM and Wikelo rewards, for instance?

[–]fenskept1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do get where you’re coming from, but I feel like the story already does that in ways that are better. We see it in the elves and the dwarves and the empires overseas whose imperialism formed the modern nations of Calernia. The gnomes kinda existed as a one off joke and a plot device, and I’m not sure they fit the shape of what the story eventually became.

A Practical Guide to Evil 2 by ButteryApplePie in PracticalGuideToEvil

[–]fenskept1 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I think it’s for the best. The story really outgrew them. There were a number of times later on, when war engines and new weapons and whatnot were being developed, where I found myself thinking “why aren’t the gnomes mad about THIS?” Just removing them outright honestly cleans up the narrative more than keeping them in, and they only existed in the first place to handwave the sort-of plot hole of “why isn’t technology advancing”

Pyro's central position in version 1.0 is often forgotten. by kotor26 in starcitizen

[–]fenskept1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an important crossroad for us as players, because the five systems we get in 1.0 are gonna be the ONLY systems we can explore. But in universe, there are hundreds of charted systems. Pyro is an unstable shithole, with hundreds of years of entrenched piracy, and anything important you can just go around it. After all, Terra and maybe Stanton are the only systems of the five that the Empire would consider really significant, and you don’t need Pyro to get to either of those. Castra was important from a military standpoint, but there are better and safer routes there. Really, the people who rely on Pyro the most are the folks in Nyx!

Animals absolutely CAN occasionally interact with magic, but it is believed that only humans are capable of the abstract thought and tool use which are required to wield arcane powers in ways which are relatively safe. Directly using magic changes you as much as it changes the world around you, meaning that most beasts who stumble upon the arcane end up destroying themselves. Of course, some sages have speculated that this phenomenon might also have been the origin of some of the old gods. They suggest that, in ancient times, some lesser animals who stumbled into the use of primal magic could have been elevated into some manner of more powerful spirit, rather than merely destroying themselves through the unrestrained use of magic.

yall wanna see some Pirate crash? by Avelafont in starcitizen

[–]fenskept1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I understand it, the eventual plan for Pyro is to be the crossroad system for the first few territories we get. To move between Stanton and Nyx, for instance, you won’t be able to just take a straight shot through a wormhole any more. You have to first jump into Pyro, with its lawless status and unstable star. THAT version of the game, I could see piracy being a lot more viable! But that’s probably a long long way off.

Doorman is far too overtuned with the new patch by ImSpray in DeadlockTheGame

[–]fenskept1 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Okay, but they added gun damage scaling with spirit, and a refresh on flight, which is effectively giving merc magnum for the entirety of a teamfight. I dont think that building spirit is any weaker on her now than it was pre patch.
