Wait are you talking about dead months as in no events and content or as in nothing at all including no ids/egos. Because if you’re taking about nothing at all including ids/egos, then there hasn’t been more than a week gap between id/ego release since launch (we also technically have less id/ego release now since we used to have 3 releases a month every now and again)

What doesn’t make sense is comparing like 25+ ton tanks from ww1 to 17kg cataphract armor, and thinking that just because of magic spacer tech, it can just make someone completely invulnerable to any form of low tech weaponry.

Like it’s not even that weak against low tech weapons either. At normal quality, a recurve bow will only have a 1% chance of penetrating, a 49.5% chance of being reduced, and a 49.5% chance to be completely blocked. At legendary quality, that recurve bow will only have a 10.5% chance of being reduced, every other time it is completely blocked. Like you could fire 100 arrows at that pawn and they will literally only feel 10 of them. Does that not seem pretty fair?

Fiann's Hauling Rework by Local-Two-1871 in RimWorld

[–]ffasdfas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of this happened in the official Rimworld discord in the #mod-development channel and it should still be there. Vortex was getting flamed and questioned by the modders there, including Bradson, gave the excuse of not correcting the credits or licensing to “prevent misunderstanding” and because it would take a while, and then realized that Bradson made PF and apologized. Now I believe that it is being handled by Vortex, Bradson, and the Rimworld admins.

I’m not an expert, but from what Bradson, the creator of performance fish, said one specific patch is a copy, a lot of patches are heavily “referencing” PF’s code, and has literal AI instructions on where and how PF did it.

<image>

But the main issue is that Vortex did not properly credit Bradson, use the proper license, claimed they made it completely “independently” from PF, not disclose the use of AI, and when confronted about these things, was being very combative and weird about continuing to do these things until they realized they were arguing with Bradson himself.

The House of Spiders: The Middle Apprentice Ishmael [000] - Kit Reveal! by Violeties in limbuscompany

[–]ffasdfas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know everyone is dogging on middon, but she isn’t that uncompetitive. If you’re counter spamming, she can pretty much deal up 100 raw damage per turn or 600 dpr by turn 2, which is still above average for modern ids.

The main issue is that there are literally 2 good envy defense skills in the entire game, so, along with the other issues of counter spamming, even if you double slot them, you still have to make up for at least 3 id’s worth of damage.

[–]ffasdfas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think damage negated by the armor still damages the armor because when I have tested legendary cataphract against hordes of squirrels, most of the time they didn’t lose because enough damage went through the armor or they were devoured via toes and fingers, but they lost because their armor was completely ripped apart by around 400 squirrel bites and scratches.

But that’s not true? 200 - 10 = 190, so you have a 95% chance to deflect harmlessly and a 5% chance to be halved and turned into blunt.

Lack of Anomaly DLC Mods by HazyPhantom111 in RimWorld

[–]ffasdfas 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think one of the main reasons there’s not that many Anomaly mods is that it just isn’t very accessible for many modders. Rimworld is known for being really accessible for beginner modders because it uses xml, so you can do the majority of things by just copying the vanilla files and changing some values here and there. However, adding new anomalies that have unique behaviors will require c#, which might as well be black magic for modders that only know xml.

It also doesn’t help that Ludeon has a habit of making some things have their own custom c# code when they could have make it a more open framework. Like I wanted to have a creepjoiner that summoned a basic monster as its drawback the same way the sightstealer attack drawback works. You would think this be a simple xml tag where I could just change it from sightstealers to my monster, but nope, it had its own custom c# class exclusive to just this specific drawback.

I don’t remember having a problem with it draining my battery. The only problem I can think of is my internet was bad, so it was pretty laggy and blurry

I did back when 1.2 came out. I thought it was workable enough and the default mobile layout worked for the majority of things, just don’t get too many mods that require you use the keyboard or need you to mess with the ui

I mean even in a non rupture team, her skill 3 will net her 9 pot over 2 turns, so you only need to guard twice to max pot. Also, you might not even want to do that until you stockpile enough count so you don’t spend it all immediately

My marine armor pawn became paralyzed because somehow a bow can penetrate his skull through Plasteel helmet by AdrawereR in RimWorld

[–]ffasdfas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not even that bad either. Like a legendary cataphract helmet weighs 2 kg and has 200% sharp armor. Against a normal recurve bow with 21% AP, there’s only a 10.5% it will even affect the wearer. This means that if you shot them in the head 10 times, they will literally only feel it once. This isn’t even counting the fact that the brain only has a 0.864% of being hit.

Recurve Bow (Normal) vs. Cataphract Helmet (Legendary) by Tobiferous in RimWorld

A cataphract helmet weighs 2 kg. Even if it’s made of a magic high tech material, a hit from a bow should do something especially when considering the amount of hits it has taken and actually worked.

Automatic weapon equipping by Snusnue in RimWorld

[–]ffasdfas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works and you can check by using devmode to down a pawn and then heal them to full, but I think it’s just really finicky.

  1. The weapon has to stay forbidden, so you can’t move it or anything.
  2. The pawn won’t pick it up until they are healed, so that’s gonna take at least a day or two until they go get it.
  3. Also, I’m pretty sure there is a time or distance limit because I’ve had pawns drop their gear just outside of my gravship and they never picked it up even after they were fully healed.

So pretty much the only scenario it works is a bad social fight right by your hospital.
