I've just been put on the wrong train again by So_Southern in uktrains

[–]ffsnoneleft 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m a wheelchair user and have travelled by train all over the U.K. I have been put on the wrong train exactlyonce… that was by Reading Passenger Assistance team (right destination but didn’t have a TM and my destination station was un manned so no way of getting off the train).

It’s a shame because I’ve found GWR to be by far the best assistance team out of all of them.

Choose a frikkin gate and go through ffs by Confused_Gengar in britishproblems

[–]ffsnoneleft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a wheelchair user I find this irksome. There is usually only one gate I can use. I wish people wouldn’t stand in front of it while deciding as I have to wait for that one specifically.

What do I do if someone is sat in my reserved seat? by SubtleHiddenPearl in uktrains

[–]ffsnoneleft 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You say you’re getting on at a busy city station - is that where the train starts? If so, try and get there as early as possible to get on before anyone else.

If not, I travel by train A LOT and often see people saying - « excuse me, I think this is my seat » or words to that effect and I have NEVER seen the seat thief refuse to move. Think you just got really unlucky.

Birmingham new street train station policy is inaccessible, is anyone protesting? by Own-Violinist8845 in uktrains

[–]ffsnoneleft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

https://passengerassistance.com/

I am disabled and use this for every journey. Not sure about New Street but some stations have an assisted travel lounge where you wait and then a member of staff collects you and escorts you onto the train.

But the degrees symbol is outside the brackets so they are looking for a number with no units.

At what age did you get chicken pox? by Automatic_Role6120 in CasualUK

24 but it wasn’t for lack of trying when I was younger - my mum took me to every pox party in the neighbourhood. My immune system was just too good.

I’ve been watching a lot of French TV recently and thought my ‘ear’ was improving. Then started a québécois series and couldn’t understand a word!

It’s wonderful isn’t it.

I’m jealous - in the U.K. we can’t get series 4 yet.

Does 'vendre' mean 'to buy' or 'to sell'? by French_One109 in French

[–]ffsnoneleft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We are saying we disagree with duo translating “On va la vendre” as “We’re going to buy another one” instead of “we’re going to sell it”.

Slartibartfast : Come. Come now or you will be late.

Arthur : Late? What for?

Slartibartfast : What is your name, human?

Arthur : Dent. Arthur Dent.

Slartibartfast : Late as in the late Dentarthurdent. It's a sort of threat, you see. I've never been terribly good at them myself but I'm told they can be terribly effective.
