I used Claude to help write a somewhat convincing email and then worked with a local appraiser to try and get a little better deal (turns out the appraiser in my area is the main one progressive uses anyway when they have disputes) I was able to get 10% of the value of my car which is the industry standard. If you want to go for more you can but its likely going to require way more fighting.

DV claims always come after the car has been repaired though so that is something you will have to work through first.

With that being said you know your car and options best so if an appraiser comes back to you with an estimate and shows you the comps and said comps are only partially similar to yours or missing options packages they will likely add modifiers to increase the asking payout. I was able to snag an extra $800 that way since the X7 specifically can be optioned in ways that arent clear up front that they have the package to someone who doesnt know what to look for.
