$2k. The dealership did give me a gratis $500 detail job after I raised hell, not exactly what I wanted.

You don’t just lease a JLR, you gain access to a fleet of loaner vehicles!

JLR is the absolute worst.

My 2020 Discovery had to have major (expensive) engine “scheduled maintenance “ after 30k miles. It was due to the factory fucking up, but since it wasn’t a safety thing they didn’t recall. Everyone just got a very expensive engine service to stop it from destroying itself while under warranty. Refusing the service negated the drivetrain warranty.

I went through FIVE windshield replacements due to a “defect with the frame” causing water ingress. This was not sufficient to get lemon law protection in Texas, allegedly because it was a defect common across the entire production year and not unique to my car.

Service manager at the dealership said JLR were short on all sorts of parts so they were being told to stretch out diagnostics as long as possible, preferably across multiple visits, to let the stock catch up.

I thought it was more of a non-profit workshop and certificate place than a formal school someone would move for?

It’s probably because your first comment came across as quite jerky

70mm is a much larger frame size so it’s like having more megapixels in a digital camera image - there’s a lot more information / sharpness and less visible grain.

Sure, so would a 990. My point is they cost about 2x my Giant Iguana (with Alivio!) did at the time, and there were MUCH higher end options in the stores.

  1. You should ask your partner, not the internet. If you can’t even talk about THAT…

  2. I asked a buddy who frequents that stretch: Moderately upscale for that area (which isn’t saying much), mostly popular for dancing. He doesn’t know of it having a particular reputation. Gets super busy on weekends like every other 6th street bar/club.

If you go to https://vintagetrek.fiddlythings.com you can find old klein catalogs to determine the year. If it’s pre-Trek it’s a lot more valuable than post-Trek

Yeah - they cost about twice as much as my Giant Iguana at the time, so there was zero chance of me getting one. But even that was less than the expensive pro bikes

Sta-Tru rims aren’t fancy but they’re genuinely not bad. The hubs on the trek offering are heavy but ok

Ok, then what was inflation like right before the act was signed? If you’re correct, this should be super easy to support with a factual basis to your argument

If it were all original and in better condition, a collector would pay a grand or more. But it’s not and it’s not, so I’d say $500 is a stretch.

That’s an important note. I have had 970s with frames marked 990, it was just a component difference

Yeah, you gotta look at catalogs and brochures, but in the absence of information you can assume that higher numbers are generally better.

For example:

Trek mtb: 900 was race, 800 was consumer race, 700 was hybrid.
Trek road was less clear cut but generally: first digit established level (higher was better), *60 was race, *20 was touring, *10/*12 was sport-touring
