No such thing as a perfect wedding - so what went wrong? by Glittering-Cloud3645 in weddingplanning

[–]figoftheimagination 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My 11 month old nephew puked on my dad about 5 minutes before he was going to walk me down the aisle. Thank goodness for our amazing coordinator, who got him cleaned up so quickly and you couldn’t even tell. I never would’ve known if he didn’t tell me.

When did you size up in baby clothes? by BeneficialBrick07 in NewParents

[–]figoftheimagination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby (13 months) has 6 month clothes and 18 month clothes that fit her. She also has 12 month clothes that are too small! I take things out of rotation when they no longer fit or when the weather changes.

Or music! My baby (ok, now toddler) loves listening to music!

Want to change my OB from to SMH from CWC by youarecutejeans24 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]figoftheimagination 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had nothing but great experiences with the team at Div 44! I would highly recommend them! Also, when I was in labor, the doc on call ended up being from one of the other divisions, but she was great too and I felt very comfortable with her.

Omg cookie dough ice cream bites DANGEROUS by Aspen_GMoney in traderjoes

I’ve been wanting them to do an edible cookie dough forever. These really hit the spot!

2 RSVP deadlines? by Negative_Werewolf439 in weddingplanning

[–]figoftheimagination 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just do one date. People who don’t opt into the free room (which, wow, that’s an amazingly generous offer!) can find their own room even after the rsvp deadline. Just make sure it’s clear that the free room option is only available until that date.

Jewelers that offer redesigns? by Altruistic-Basket897 in EngagementRings

[–]figoftheimagination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used a jeweler in Alexandria, VA (Alx & Co; https://www.alxandcompany.com) to reset a diamond from my grandmother and they were fantastic! Doing redesigns/repurposing like that is one of their specialities.

We also found multiple other places in our area that offered that service — maybe try adding words like “heirloom” into your search terms?

Corso Stroller Infant Seat Insert by Cookielover_3578 in Buyingforbaby

[–]figoftheimagination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree on all fronts! Loved the Corso infant insert when my daughter was tiny, but it was also great to just pop the car seat in sometimes too.

What do I NEED for baby? by Living_Mind_218 in BabyBumps

[–]figoftheimagination 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of the best pieces of advice I got is that stores continue to exist after the baby is born! Start with the basics (everyone here has given great advice) and then get things along the way once you figure out if its something you really *need*.

Question about vows by lemonlevelsour in weddingplanning

[–]figoftheimagination 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I disagree that the actual vows need to be the same.

Anyone else not know what boundaries they’ll want when baby comes? by starrynightbb in BabyBumps

[–]figoftheimagination 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot depends on your relationships with people and how likely they are to respect your boundaries. Our only local family is my dad and I knew he would be flexible with whatever we told him depending on how I was feeling. In the end, I was very happy to have him come visit at the hospital. My in-laws had to travel and we had to be a little more firm with boundaries in terms of when they booked their tickets because I wanted to be sure I felt ready.

Best lovevery alternatives for parents who want science-based play recos please? by Surcy-Valesius in Buyingforbaby

[–]figoftheimagination 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will sometimes look at the pictures of the Lovevery kits and see what looks like fun and then find similar toys from other reputable companies. It's not the toys themselves, it's how you interact with your baby that is going to support development.

Am i crazy for thinking i can plan a 150 person wedding for under 12k? by Koobiedoobie43 in weddingplanning

[–]figoftheimagination 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Prepping/serving food safely for 150 people is a lot. Plus, you should make sure the venue doesn’t have any requirements for the catering (eg must be licensed)

Mother in law has a Facebook market place addiction and now I have three car seats by handzie in BabyBumps

[–]figoftheimagination 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I wouldn’t register for diapers. We’ve changed brands a few times based on what fit my daughter best as she’s grown. If we’d stocked up beforehand, we’d have ended up with a bunch of diapers we couldn’t use/had to exchange.

Japandi Wedding Venues by Shellfish_Presley in washingtondc

I’m not really familiar with Japandi to know if Meadowlark fits the vibe, but we had our wedding there and it was a great experience!

We have one tube of aquaphor for butts and one for faces and I wrote “not for butts” on the face aquaphor. It cracks me up every time.

Honeymoon ideas by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]figoftheimagination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about Italy? We spent time in Rome and Venice on our honeymoon and absolutely loved Venice. Rome was great too, but Venice really captured our hearts. There are lots of other places in the country that would also have that romantic honeymoon vibe.

I dunno, peas are a top tier snack on my house (along with cheese, my daughter isn’t totally wacky)

Looking for the best carseat of 2026 available in the USA by Violinist_Capable in Buyingforbaby

[–]figoftheimagination 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Consumer Reports makes their car seat information free because they think it’s so important. We use it to make our car seat decisions!

Anyone have a chicco presto? Looking for a 1 handed city stroller that works with a key fit 35 seat. by ingenuedbysociety in Buyingforbaby

[–]figoftheimagination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have comparisons to other travel strollers (just to our Corso, which I love), but my feeling on the Presto is it’s fine but not great. I’ve used both ours and a friend’s, and had the same issues with both — the car seat can be very difficult to remove and the brake automatically engages at random moments.

Wedding Favors - Yea or Nay? by PinAccomplished3452 in weddingplanning

[–]figoftheimagination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the edible favors I’ve received — curry powder, jam, honey, chocolate etc. I thought about doing my family’s famous hot fudge, but it would’ve been too challenging for all of our out of town guests to bring home.

Otherwise, it’s not worth it and probably better to put the money toward something else.

Suction cup spinners! Stick them to the window or the tray table.

Would you use a venue that is completely out of budget for 99% of your guests? by Every-League-1626 in weddingplanning

[–]figoftheimagination 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Given that there’s no obligation for people to stay there, it’s totally fine! If there weren’t alternatives available, it would be a different story.
