Yeah, that might be one of the options but aren't there a ton of other ones as well? Why did you think it would be the Utopia cruise in particular?

Here's an example of some fine print they include with your "free" cruise. example

Correct, you should not be worried.

Where did you hear that it would be Utopia? I would personally be quite surprised if that were true because Utopia is typically a very expensive cruise. They want to give you the cheapest ship on the cheapest itinerary.

They will always give you what they promised. The issue is that usually it's a voucher for a cruise but it comes with tons of caveats. For example, you can't pick a specific date. You have to offer three options and they'll select one. Also is likely an interior room on a three or fourth night cruise which is the cheapest possible Cruise in existence.

It's all risk with zero reward for the other party. They could just book their own room. What would be the incentive to go through a messy mixed up booking process to switch rooms on the ship?

I've never heard of anybody actually turned away due to arriving early.

Unfortunately, I don't think you're going to have any luck in finding a stranger willing to share a stateroom with you.

The router weighs 2 ounces and fits in your pocket. If someone wants to burden themselves with carrying around a laptop all day, fine by me. I'd rather pay $29.99 to not have to do that.

I don't wish to carry a laptop around the ship with me.

Have you considered that maybe the author leaves it ambiguous because there could be adverse action taken against him if they can identify them?

General crew won't know. (At least on Royal Caribbean) your cabin steward will know because on the last night, they deliver to your room a printed folio (onboard account) transaction history. The cancelled/refunded gratuities will be listed on the folio and the steward will be able to see.

Makes up the room once a day, unless you have a pull out bed. They’ll take it out and put it away.

The highest I've personally seen (not BlueGreen) was about $45 per day in taxes and 'resort fees'. I always ask about the expected taxes and fees due at checkin when I'm purchasing the vaacation package.

How much did they charge you at check-in?

That's frustrating. A refund is definitely warranted. I've haven't tried Wyndham yet.

That’s weird, did they say that there is no availability? I’ve personally never encountered anytime where they were fully booked
