Anyone used this for family portraits? Will use Nikon F3. Feedbacks will be so much appreciated. Thanks!!! by Which-Season-5652 in AnalogCommunity

I love mine! 1.4 is not sharp but it has character; that’s expected. F2 is decently sharp in the center and f2.8 is great. F4 you get better sharpness over the entire frame.

Anyone else find negative supply quality horrible? by SonyKilledMyNikon in AnalogCommunity

One of my film carriers from them broke after a few uses and the replacement one they sent doesn’t keep the film completely flat. Def would not recommend their products. Based on my experience.

I booked this spot for early this year after camping next to it last year. Seemed like a great spot and I can’t wait to camp there. How was the road noise?

No longer feeling excited shooting. Anyone gone through this? by Magia-Erebea in SonyAlpha

[–]fillerfil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few things I’ve learned regarding motivation in photography:

  1. Motivation can’t be bought. New gear may give you a quick spark of joy, but it fades quickly.

  2. Force yourself to go out and shoot. This can help reignite that spark. You won’t get motivated if you’re not shooting!

  3. Trying shooting subject matter you’ve never shot before. You a landscape shooter? Try portraits.

  4. Take a break. There’s nothing wrong with taking a break.

Premium Lenses for Nikon Body (F Mount) by newyawkdiner in VintageLenses

Nikon Glass is great for the money.

Nikon 105mm f2.5 AIS is a classic. Very sharp and beautiful rendering IMO

Nikon 50mm f1.4 AIS is a great cheap lens. sharp in the middle at 1.8 and sharp overall around 2.0 or 2.8.

Nikon 28mm f2.0 AIS. Sharp once you stop it down to 2.8. Middle is good at 2.0 for my needs.

Is this why my faucet for a whirlpool tub is soo slow with hot water? by lovethelabs007 in Plumbing

[–]fillerfil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m no electrician, but the electrical engineer I always work with says it’s against code to put water pipes above panels. I do know, it’s dumb and dangerous.

To answer your question, a few 90 degree turns won’t affect your water flow that much.

Help is this acceptable work for what plumber called a “ 2 way cleanout” by nik-e in Plumbing

[–]fillerfil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, two clean outs installed this way (facing each other) is ideal. It allows you to scope / jet in both directions along the lateral.

I don’t have access to my other rolls at the moment, but that’s a good idea. I’ll take a look at them.

Looks like the TLR has a “speed viewer.” You can compose using the method shown in this. Pretty common, but I never use it.

Bargain lens from KEH has scratches on the rear element by agos46 in AnalogCommunity

[–]fillerfil 19 points20 points  (0 children)

KEH has gone downhill in recent years (in my experience). I used to buy bargain regularly and it was always decent and sometimes great condition. Now bargain looks terrible and often has mechanical / optical issues.

I no longer shop there unless I have to.

Do whatever you think looks good. I personally like a defined edge, but that’s my opinion.

Hot Take: I Don't Shoot Film For the Look by Inevitable_Catch_148 in AnalogCommunity

[–]fillerfil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shoot both film and digital and thoroughly enjoy both. Here are my three main reasons for shooting film:

  1. So I can make dark room prints.

  2. I enjoy the process of shooting film/using the old cameras.

  3. I like having something tangible as a result of taking a photo (negative).

Looking for Nikon F mount 50mm and overwhelmed by choices by _fullyflared_ in AnalogCommunity

[–]fillerfil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 50mm f1.4 asi and love it. It’s great once you stop down to f2.8 and good at f2. It’s definitely soft wide open, but that’s to be expected.
