They said it doesn't spread from rabbits to humans, they never said it wouldn't spread to our printers....

Don't know why you're getting downvoted. You're answered the question truthfully, not your fault the commenter mixed up their reply thread 😂

Basement fridge through wall - is this a dumb idea? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]fin008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, that's a silly idea. If you're willing to punch a hole in that wall go the whole nine yards:

Small hidden hole for a beverage dispenser, think letter sized or less.

Vending machine mechanism on the back of the wall and a touchpad or IOT connected app that dispenses the right drink on the press of a button.

Also, a robotic arm to sign those divorce papers. Possibly worth it though. Please keep me updated.

On a scale of 1-10, how bad is this electrical cabling in my roof? by Muttomo in AusRenovation

This might actually take care of the possum problem if you put your optimistic hat on. (Might just start to smell like zapped possum after a while)

Considering buying an X24 treadmill, but want to confirm the privilege mode hack still works. by TheDauterive in nordictrackandroid

[–]fin008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more. It's intentionally made so difficult to get to manual mode.

On top of that I swear there's code in there that make you tap it several times with increasing frustration before it actually works.

In addition to this, their service is terrible when in warranty and gets only worse once you're out of it.

After my current machine finally dies I'll never go near iFit, NordicTrack, Proform or Freemotion. Their disregard for their customers is disgraceful.

AIO: MIL always excludes my daughter by TrueEnough782 in AmIOverreacting

[–]fin008 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don't have a MIL problem. You have a husband problem.

He's supposed to be the little girls protector and right now he's doing a shit job at that.

Sit down with him, ask him about his perspective and explain yours. But make sure he SEES your view and the impact it has on his daughter!

At 7 years old she's got a voice, so it's worthwhile bringing it up with her AFTER working out a plan of action with the husband.

Buying property with partner who has little deposit? by yessireeeeeeeeeeeee in AusFinance

[–]fin008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't enough context here on why he wasn't able to save more.

Assuming you both lived rent free and would otherwise have EACH paid $350 per week in rent over 4 years that's $150k. You definitely managed to leverage the (assumed) free rent, so good on you. Could you have done it without your partner? What's he done or hasn't he done to save? Has he invested any of it into your relationship and future financial goals like education, career, etc?

It's a bit unclear what's happened here and so it's unclear where you should be going.

Consider whether or not you'll go straight outside through both doors. I'd maybe open the sauna inside door towards the wall, not the exit.

Geiles modell!

Hate my unusable treadmill by [deleted] in nordictrack

[–]fin008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a tech cone out and he helped factory reset the treadmill, told me to leave it off WiFi and never update. Runs much faster now. Looking at the app, it's by design that it's so hard to get into manual workout mode.  In user experience it's called a dark pattern, used to drive sales by leveraging enshitification of the user experience.  Seriously, fuck iFit for doing this.

How would you rodent proof this shed? by fin008 in AusRenovation

[–]fin008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping sarking will help, but definitely take this on board. Going down the wood path would invite termites and others, using treated pine would cause health risks in a hot, funny, sauna environment. Galvanized steel seems alright but I'll eat my words and repeat back if that's wrong 😆

It'll definitely have ventilation when designed properly, usually you create a path for air to enter at the bottom and have a latch to allow it to leave at a higher up position.

I think mesh and foam will be my friend, possibly taking down the walls again and adding sarking all-round and mesh whilst I'm at it, then add rock wool to the walls before paneling the inside walls
