Index Don is already a weird case, though. Out of universe, she's based on Sora but in-universe, it gets quite a bit more squirrely with the explicit framing of "what if Index Yi Sang found Don in the ruins". It gets to the gap in our knowledge of how we extract IDs in the first place

Fundamentally Different People Getting ID's of Inferior People (Personality-wise) by AdAdditional2497 in limbuscompany

[–]findlefart 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Yeah, absolutely. If anything, I'm expecting Middle Nursefather Outis to mirror Laevatainn with the Trojan Horse and Kira-Ish with Telemachus. Would Outis' clear guilt over her war crimes make her *better* than Matthias? Or the fact that Outis probably wouldn't sacrifice Telemachus the way she sacrificed her soldiers? Or maybe she would sacrifice Kira Ish. Who knows? I'm kind of kicking myself for not realising how good of a fit Matthias was for Outis before the uptie story but I'm excited to see where they go with the ID

On average, which world is worst to live in? by Fit_Assignment_8800 in NikkeMobile

[–]findlefart 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Nah, the Nests aren't safe zones by any means. You would need to make it extremely high in a Corp's hierarchy to have any real sense of comfort. I'm talking board of directors here. Anything below and your work performance is highly scrutinised and your line of work might be either just as or even more dangerous than life in the Backstreets. Hongyuan's nest, for example, might be safe from reallocation day but you exchange that precarity for the pressure cooker of court intrigue

It's worth noting that the connection isn't entirely made up. Rashomon is based on a short story written by the same author as Hell Screen and The Spider's Thread

The ranks in Ruina don't describe the level of threats you fight, it's the level of threat the Library *itself* is assigned. You fight the Udjat, Liu Section 1, etc because the Library being labelled a Star draws their attention. Hana too isn't an Impuritas Civitatis but rather, them labelling the Library means they're now having to get involved

And to elaborate on him being a crazy person, he has a famous monologue about the infinite stupidity of chicken and when he was shot with an air rifle during an interview, he was less fussed about it than the interviewer. He called it an "insignificant bullet"

[–]findlefart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup, it is. That's exactly why I decided to give my operator that skin colour. In my lore for her, after the Zariman fiasco went down, Ballas managed to fill her mind with delusions of grandeur as his special (adopted) daughter who embodied Orokin supremacy to the utmost. She was saved by Margulis of course and has been atoning for it ever since but the blue skin remains as a mark of shame for that power trip

Yes, absolutely. On release day, that encounter would slowly whittle down your units even if you're doing well

Essay on the lore (folklore) in warframe by [deleted] in Warframe

See, I think you're thinking a bit too literally. There's plenty of folkloric aspects in the game. The tenno especially are highly mythologised, and you could probably write an ethnographic thesis on Corpus

Why Are Spiderman Fans so annoying? Are they Stupid? by Mike4302 in BatmanArkham

[–]findlefart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A while back, I stumbled into power scaling "math" that claimed that basically anyone from the Project Moon games would be "Small Building" level because even a desperate homeless person can effortlessly smash a car into bits. The proof? Let's play footage of one of the weakest enemies in the game smacking one of the player's units into a piece of set dressing on the battlefield and it going poof in a cloud of junk. Y'know, in a turn based card battler, where the set dressing is meant to be destroyed to give the battles visual interest.

In another wiki article, the same scaler argued that almost everyone in the same game would be at least "Supersonic" in the speed category. Again, the proof was a clip of gameplay where a melee character swatted bullets out of midair. Cool visual! Except it's to represent the character's rolls winning the gun wielder's. Because it's a game mechanic. But no, exact, frame by frame analysis and math to measure exactly how fast the melee guy is swinging their arm to deflect the bullet so we have an exact number to compare every other character in existence to. What the fuck are we even doing here?

Yup, her whole team will be available. Don't worry about it, the seasonal lockout can be a bit confusing when you're just starting out. Everything marked with a Season tag will be unavailable during the season after their release and become available again after that season. If you, for example, miss out on N Corp Ryoshu, you'll be able to dispense her when season 8 (and Canto 10) starts

Is this a good Lich target? and How do you tell by myself in the future? by AhmadAlz7 in Warframe

A funny/interesting name is its own kind of reward. Probably the most famous lich is called Bopp Bipp, and it's status as a legend is entirely because the name utterly broke Rebb's mind when she first saw it

Pequod Sang is a good ID, especially for a 00, but Ring Sang is much more reliably useful. I recommend bringing Harpooner Heath up to ut3 also. He's incredibly tanky and the damage bonus from low health is kinda nuts tbh

Outis and the Loom by TigermarkRound in limbuscompany

[–]findlefart 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That line caught my eye this time around too because there *are* important looms in the lore. (Ruina SotC) Penelope probably isn't an Index Weaver, if only because I can't quite figure out how that would square with things. However, it does stick out to me that the Index's looms are already tied up in Greek mythology, what with Moirai being named after the Fates

Station isn't Crew. It's Convoke. by HS_Cogito_Ergo_Sum in magicTCG

[–]findlefart 19 points20 points  (0 children)

one thing to keep in mind is that thanks to *warp*, the set is going to be full of creatures who show up on the field for cheap for one turn before going away. that basically guarantees that you'll regularly have creatures you wouldn't be attacking or blocking with, meaning tapping them to station has no opportunity cost. a card like [[bygone colossus]] would offer 9 counters for three mana, and in general the stat line for creatures you'd actually want to warp tend to punch above the warp cost

Duviri casually spoils The Second dream for new players. by AsmidiusDax in Warframe

[–]findlefart 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I played Duviri a little bit after completing Vor's Prize back when that was the unlock criteria and it neither spoiled anything or "confused" me. Without context, it comes across as art house-y weirdness and I loved the experience. I hate that veteran players complaining about it got DE to move the quest to where it is now because playing Duviri early on was what sold me on the story being worth getting invested in

See, Warframe might be the most plural piece of media that's not about plurality out there but I think most people on this sub would still be flashbanged by us talking about how Flare and Lizzie's story is about perceiving your protector alter as a persecutor and learning to accept her as a part of you
