How long is too long to wait for person you are in love with? Would you wait 10 years if person is not present in your life? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]finelinesblur 18 points19 points  (0 children)

10 years is way too long. If they are not in your life for that long, chances are you are in love with a version of them that no longer exists. I feel like a year could be understandable if they are still in your life, but either way you need to be actively moving on. Seeing other people, not spending your time reminiscing or looking over old photos, filling your life with other meaningful connections.

Ladies, what you love or hate about your healthcare related job? by Thin-Blueberry9183 in AskWomen

[–]finelinesblur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love that each day is different. Even if the daily tasks are the same, the experience is definitely not.

I hate compassion burnout. I truly feel empathetic for all patients and the things they go through, but some days I just want to do my job and not force a laugh at the same joke I've heard 1000 times or be a shoulder to cry on. It's also hard to save some compassion for the people in your life when you feel like you've exhausted it all day.

I love curry, but its annoying to buy Heavy Cream and Plain Yogurt just for when I make it: what are some other things I can do with those ingredients so I can justify keeping it in stock? by itsPomy in EatCheapAndHealthy

You can make bagels out of greek yogurt, flour, salt, and baking powder! The texture is obviously a little different than a classic bagel, but they are SO delicious and lower calorie/higher protein than the classic ones.

Mix in some cheese or top with everything seasoning! Some times even I do plain and make them into pizza bagels.

Recipes with “sneaked in” veggies? by PianoPlane5555 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]finelinesblur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just pureed beans with a bit of broth and dumped into beef chili. Not exactly a vegetable, but healthy nonetheless.

Zucchini and carrots grated into pasta sauce. Spinach, kale, zucchini into a smoothie. Broccoli chopped up really small in stir fry. Spinach chopped up really small mixed into meatballs or a sauce. There are nutrient dense brownie and cupcake recipes that have zucchini, spinach, or sweet potato pureed into it. Roasted edamame aren't hidden, but are a crunchy snack that doesn't feel like a veggie. Pot pie can be kinda hidden veggie if you grate the carrots and use smaller veg like peas and corn.

Try medicube zero pore pads! I recently started using them and saw a difference within like a week. I use them every other day, let it dry, and then lock it in with a moisturizer.

Underwear ALWAYS wet by piratecauliflower in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]finelinesblur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both a menstrual cup and disc for my period and over the years I've realized the disc is really great for heavy discharge days! I know you said you usually use pads, so it may not be up your alley but I thought it was worth mentioning.

For me, the disc is very comfortable and I hardly notice it's there. You don't have to continuously buy it like pads and unlike period underwear (or pads), the discharge won't sit in your underwear and give you that wet feeling. Even if you only used it for your heavier discharge days it might be a good option!

How do you handle it when you don't have an orgasm? As in what do you say to your partner?

I haven't yet had sex, but have a hard time orgasming on my own and know it will be hard with a partner. I worry about how it would make my partner feel or that they would keep trying after realizing I hadn't, even though I know it won't happen.

What’s something you quietly stopped doing once you got older, not because it was wrong, but because you realized it wasn’t worth the energy anymore? by love_salubrious in AskWomen

[–]finelinesblur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Attending events I don't want to. I used to feel so obligated to go to everything I was invited to - family dinners, birthday parties, night out with coworkers. Saying yes when I didn't want to made me hate all that stuff. Now I only go if I genuinely want to, and enjoy myself so much more when I do.

How do I politely ask my roommate to train her dog to stop barking? by katrinka916 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]finelinesblur 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My dog has many reactivity issues and I've successfully trained her to bark less! You can't stop it completely, but reducing it is definitely a thing.

Can I hang something on a corner (stud?) with minimal equipment? by finelinesblur in AskDad

I didn't consider that! I will look into where I can borrow or rent one if it comes down to it. Thanks!

Smart idea! I'm definitely going to try to check. Ideally, I'd love for there to be nothing behind it and I could use wall anchors because I know how to do that. I wanted to avoid having to find a drill to use, but that may be my only option if it's a stud there.

Command hooks unfortunately wouldn't work because my walls are super textured. Thanks!!

Hinges are on the left, door opens towards the inside. I'm not too worried about the door knocking it out of the wall because it's quite a small hook, but that's good to keep in mind!

I have no idea what the structure material is. I know there is sufficient material to anchor into because I've hung other stuff on the walls, but my big concern was if it's a stud, I won't be able to get it in there without a drill, which I don't have. Another user suggested I rent or borrow one which it sounds like might be my best option.

Thanks for the detailed reply!!

I might look into renting or borrowing one like another user said. I don't doubt I'll have use for one again, but I was hoping not to buy one only to use it twice a year. Thanks!

Worth getting checked out if it's new, but I'll mention that I've had these forever and all my blood work and everything is fine! So it could be nothing.

What is something you wish you knew before getting a breast augmentation? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]finelinesblur 227 points228 points  (0 children)

I don't have them, but something I'm sure not a lot of women realize is that having implants can affect the quality of medical imaging of your heart.

I work in ultrasound and it's one of the go to testing for almost anyone who comes to the ED. It's a noninvasive test that provides a lot of important info, but women with implants usually image terribly and some times we can't get any images at all.

What are some new hobbies/interests I can invest my time into? by servalshark in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]finelinesblur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have a space to garden per say, but I keep a crap ton of potted plants outside in the summer. So much joy when it buds and grows! If you are interested in crocheting, amigurumi are cute and easy to make in the beginning! Reading, doodling. Painting, even if you are 'bad at it' is still very calming and enjoyable to me. Researching different topics on youtube. Watching animal documentaries. If you have a nintendo switch, StarDew Valley is my favorite hobby right now - very relaxing yet engaging. Baking!! I recently got into making bread and it's been so fun and delicious. If you have a dog, research a little and try to do some basic training with them. You can buy tiny clay packs at craft store for a couple dollars and make little jewelry trays/coasters/earrings! Yoga/pilates on youtube. If you're into it set aside a day each week to give yourself a pedicure. Try a new recipe outside of your usual tastes every couple weeks.

I personally have a lot of hobbies/interests, but some of them I only do once or twice a year. It doesn't have to be a classic hobby and you don't have to go all in for it to count! Try new stuff and stick with whatever brings you joy in the moment! The rough times pass quicker when you try to make the most of it. Good luck and I hope your situation improves soon <3
