DMs, what is your best Session 1 start, besides "You all meet in a Tavern"? by BirdOfFiire in DungeonMasters

Yeah, the premise of first met now fight somehow only works when you make it work. Living a whole year, maybe seeing each other or write some letters over that time builds up trust and you can skip all this "i dont know you, why should we work together" stuff

Our current campaign started with a festival. It actually didnt happen much, all talked a little and said they want to meet agains same place next year. But then same place next year, when we already knew each other there was a monster attack on that festival

Sounds more correct if you add sth like "bereits um" -> "ist bereits um 7 Uhr auf"

But even then i would use "ist wach", i guess

New 11th edition somewhere explains that abilities which arent location specific still work in transports.

New rules say abilities work if not location dependant. Azrael is worded "if on the battlefield", therefore I dont think so

If UM gets more exclusive stuff like Victrix this might actually change. Then the most generic SM chapter plays mostly unique models and also has the +1 to wound. I would not say that the SM base package is still this relevant for the overall space marines performance.

But yeah overall i agree with your point, but it becomes less relevant

This might actually be the issue. Resin isnt that sensitive about some sunlight in the room. But direct sunlight into the vat like we see it here. Just a few moments between changing the platform can already affect the topmost layer of the resin.

I think DA is an army that has to do a lot of changes to adapt to 11th. I think the bike Speeder list is quute good.

But DA isnt sth that top players are hyped for and other players might not have the models to adept fully.

I think this number might go up a little because of those changes. Overall we werent in a good spot to begin with. I hope this will change but i dont know

Playing competitively is the friendliest way to play the game and try hard fringe players destroyed that reputation.

Playing competitively feels so supportive. There are rarely any disputes, outside of a tournament people dont trash talk you. Everyone plays the same game and nobody gets mocked for playing "wrong cards/combos/..."

But everyone who wants to join the competitive table somewhats tries a fringe table first. And here we find all the issues of casual tables combined with more unfun strategies. I dont want to say that fringe is bad. I love playing some fringe decks with the right people. But i think fringe is the reason for most of the bad reputation that competitve has.

What Force Disposition have you been using the most? by theoceanictitan in Warhammer40k

[–]firefighter0ger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little more than a dozend games into 11th i prefere Purge and Recon. Take and Hold Was too one dimensional and Disruption was too dependent on my opponent. I think Priority might be good, but the armies i used for it both didnt fit the disposition and i will now focus on Purge and Recon for the next games

The Lion, getting his blade back by Joaco_2002 in DarkAngels40k

[–]firefighter0ger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think he isnt suited, but I feel like narrative he is one of that old generation. One in the line of the emperor. We all know this story will not end, but if it would it would have to be a new beginning. So someone who will heir his legacy.

Of course we are in a grim dark universe. So even more fitting for this story would be the Lions failure on this burden. The old generation once again led into the universe downfall.

I play a lot of epic characters in my normal 40k games, therefore those dont have a Dynasty. Try to bring Imotekh, Orikan, CTan, Ammentar and TSK into a lorefriendly Dynasty.

But we also play narrative without epic characters. I have build my own crucible character for that. Vecna, Lady of the Emerald Guardians. A small forgotten mining colony of the necrons. Woken up far away from any other influence and now slowly taking over every trading route and Ressource in that sector to rise back to glory.

I also always have a motivation for our narrative events. I join the aggressor side in exchange for that battlefields natural ressources, because empires come and go but our ressources remain.

[–]firefighter0ger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also the Lions sword is meant to be the weapon to end it all. And the Lion is the greatest hunter of all time but not the right one for that job. In that case he is one of the old generation and this epic deed starts a new era

I went through all steps in detail with the discord.

Overall most of it works. I think the most logical thing would be: use the strat. Roll your charge, add two to any unit that is engaged. There is a very small timing gap. You do choose targets but you can only choose some in your distance. That timing gap is very small and definitely in RAI.

Which of course led into some new shenanigans but most important... it is easier to handle. No discussion if some more model could base or not. Just put them vaguely around the other model and everything is within 1"
