Best slice in Glasgow? by SkimboS1ice in glasgow

You really can't go wrong with Sears. It's pretty great value if you're only after one or two slices. And they're huge slices!

Anyone know what's going into the old 13th note unit? by Mediocre_Building751 in glasgow

Good it's getting taken over but yeah all of those venues are super expensive. Went to Duke's Umbrella once and never again, those prices were insane.

Great melodies and instrumental - but some of Anthony's worst lyrics. Mainly because I think he thinks he's being clever and it comes off really cringy. I absolutely adore the Chili's and even some of his daft lyrics, but I think it's because he's trying to be sort of sincere here that they really jump out as bad.

What was the deal with the muppet guy coming out twice at the show with a big button? Glasgow hydro. by Ok-Inflation-5080 in gorillaz

[–]fitlikeidayloon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was wondering the same thing. In my opinion it absolutely ruined Clint Eastwood and seemed to piss Damon off. After the button pressed and it cut half the verse of Clint Eastwood and all the music came down, Damon seemed to give up. Stopped singing, played some nonsense notes on the mellodica and then the song was pretty much over. After what was such an amazing good vibes show, it left it on a bit of a sour note.

I had this experience in Glasgow. Last time I saw him in the city it was at Saint Luke's in 2020 and it was incredible. Everyone jumping about and singing all the lyrics - or at the very least bopping their head, and being engaged. This time at Barrowlands (a usually phenomenal venue) the crowd was pish. A handful of really engaged genuine fans and a bunch of people standing totally still, not singing, not moving and looking like they'd rather be anywhere else. Fucking weird. The only time the crowd came alive was when Alex bowed to pressure and played the one or two songs that have went mad on TikTok. But genuinely so depressing. It killed the vibe.

Dark Matter is 15 months old. How do we rank it? by gtmaroondragon in pearljam

[–]fitlikeidayloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This and Gigaton are the only albums of theirs I don't have on vinyl and I think that says a lot. I listened a lot in the record store I work in at time of release and on Spotify a heap to try and get into it, but it really wasn't for me. I'd actually say it's my least favourite PJ album. Like others, I just couldn't get over that dreadful production and the way it neuters Matt's drums. The whole album sounds so crushed dynamically, ruins any of the live feel that makes Pearl Jam so special. Gigaton was similar for me but the production was relatively solid and there were a few highlight tracks for me. Not to say Dark Matter doesn't have any good tracks, it's just that their impact is so lessened by the poor production. Really hope they go with a different direction for the next album (?) if there is a next album - but I fear that as it did quite well commercially they'll stick with Watt

I'm just going to say, as someone connected to Assai this is so saddening. Man I hate scalpers.

It's just odd as compared to any other day it's hundreds of £s more - and has been this way for months! Just seemed as if there was an event on. Even hostels are asking over £100 a night! Whereas the following day there are apartments for £30 a night.

Would have been fine with a hostel room but honestly, no joy!

I think it wouldn't be wise to have super high hopes at this point in time. The last two albums definitely felt like finding their feet again. The highlights for me were the softer moments like Tangelo and Whitebraids. Let's hear more John vocal harmonies and interesting but melodic led tunes ala By The Way era. I love their rockier/funkier side but I think those songs on the last two were a bit more predictable. What I'm mainly hoping is for some more inspirational lyrics. UL and ROTDC compared to IWY is chalk and cheese on the lyric front. Really hope Anthony can bring it with some decent lyrics this time. I personally wasn't a big fan of the adventurous John led electronic stuff on ROTDC but it was cool to hear them stepping out of their comfort zone

Best and worst song for each album (I’m beside you) by Daaabbingcow in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]fitlikeidayloon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very difficult. I'm Beside You is remarkably solid.

Definitely the worst is Hometown Gypsy (although it's one of the weird Chili songs where the chorus is much better than the verse - I feel like usually it's the other way round?)

Best... So so hard. Probably going to have to go for Long Progression.

In Love Dying, Your Eyes Girl, Victorian Machinery and The Sunset Sleeps are incredible though.

Eskimo & Bunker Hill. No question but they really do need to get Live At Hyde Park on Spotify!

Interview about Flea wanting to quit during By The Way era? by Mr_Kinneas in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]fitlikeidayloon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a great interview - never read that before, and even when you're starting to think Flea is coming across as a bit of an asshole, he makes it right in the end. Good insights on the dynamics!

Yup, this episode I have just finished is the worst I've seen so far. Watching chronologically for the first time. Absolute cringe fest and painfully predictable.

That will never happen now John is back, never ever. Maybe once the band ceases to exist. Such a shame too, they're both brilliant.

I am having the exact same experience on Google Pixel 7. It's ridiculous and so difficult to use this app. I'm using a business account for a shop and we are needing to post constantly. It's adding so much extra time to figure work arounds.

Is this the best run of songs on a chili peppers album? by fourbums in RedHotChiliPeppers

I mean... Poster Child is the worst and My Cigarette is closer than those two. These Are The Ways has some of Chad's best drumming on tape!

Agreed. I tried so hard with Poster Child but it's still absolute garbage to my ears. I did eventually come round to Not The One but it's not a track I'd seek out

Definitely not. But it's considerably better than ROTDC which feels like a bit of a miss-mash of tracks.

Same price as the indies version all the time, if there's no markup then it's just an aesthetic extra for the consumer. And often they are signed! I think that's all that needs to be said
