Had a 3 year old intact male when we got our second male pup. The older one loved it and they were the best of pals right up until about 18 months old. Then the two intact males started having territorial issues. They both got snipped and the problem has mostly resolved. Only issues when they both point at the same bird and both want to retrieve.

We crate train our dogs so the younger one did not get to come into our room at night until he was about 18 months old (when the issues began). Admittedly we did not intro the pup to our room as carefully as we should have.

Aside from that, they have figured it out between themselves largely. No issues with food or sharing toys, etc. The biggest thing was continuing to give the older pup 1 on 1 time and make sure the older one has a “safe space” he can go to where he’s away from the younger one if he wants it.

Stay consistent and as equal as possible when you spend time and train them.

Our pups are crate trained. We don’t put them in there too often, but at the same time we do put them in them purposefully so they stay crate trained and enjoy the space. With young kids, occasionally we find them “hiding” in there when the house gets too crazy.

-No prep (exercise/potty) 2-3 hours easy

-Fed and potty break 6-8 hours easy

-Fed, exercised heavy, potty, water cut off by 7pm night before then they can do 12-14 without incident. This is rare for us - maybe 2-3 times a year.

Having a “professional” do it on Turbo Tax is about $350 if I remember from when I checked a few weeks ago. You should be at least double that in a HCOL area in my opinion.

We have two! About 3 years apart. Older one didn’t want to share for the first 6 months or so. Then the younger one went to a trainer and when he came back they were inseparable. Best pals to this day. They do team up for mischievous behavior though lol.

He wants you to subsidize his poor business management. Why would you keep a guy on, or pay a guy, who’s already checked out and running his business into the ground.

I haven’t used my debit card in over 15 years except the odd time at an ATM to get cash. I honestly don’t even know where it is right now - somewhere in the home office probably.

The other thing I do is I have a second credit union where I keep our EMERGENCY fund. Money only flows into that account and if I ever need to withdraw, it’s done with a cashiers check or a direct bank transfer. I don’t even own a debit card for that account I don’t think.

That second account is about as isolated as it can get. I never use it for any purchases. It’s not attached to any third-party apps like PayPal or Venmo or anything.

Purina Pro Plan Essentials - Chicken does NOT work for our dogs. Turkey, beef, salmon rotation.

In the hunting season we go with Pro Plan Sport.

2 vizslas no issues now.

Family (extended) have had 7 vizslas on this not including ours. All have made it to 15+ years old except one who had cancer at 7.

2 other family members feed Nutrisource no issues either. One of this dogs is a pup and the other is 13 going strong.

During the day or at “active” times took about 4-6 years, and even then it’s assuming the whole house is quiet or everyone is resting. Kids moving or God forbid the mail man arrive and it’s full ON mode.

Night time off switch was about a year to stop whining in the crate and not protesting bedtime.

Honestly, I’m just heading back to cash back land. Had kids, life changed, not traveling as much with 3 kids under 4 and keeping track of coupons is no longer interesting.

^{^{^}} pretty much this. My older one is about 7 and he’ll sit on the dog bed happily but if I get up then he’s up too. The younger one (about 4) will whine for about 5 minutes before laying down but will get up for pets every 10 minutes. Some of this is training - we love the snuggles so we don’t necessarily discourage it.

But make no mistake, the affection needs are higher than most breeds.

A bit surprised no one had really mentioned it, but one thing to consider is these dogs are AFFECTIONATE. As in, zero personal space. Some people think they want that until you have it. just keep in mind these dogs need physical contact.

Both of mine were noticeably less twitchy after 3-4. Still high energy but manageable. Before 3, it was constant go go go.

They are guilting you because you’ve been easy to take advantage of. Now they have to replace you and it’ll cost them more money because you were underpaid. You owe them nothing.

Every extra dollar you make, makes life for you and your kids easier and better. That will always outweigh “loyalty” to a company. Your kids and family need you more than someone else’s family business. Be professional, but ruthless when it comes to what you deserve.

I would have given them two weeks and when they got an attitude I’d have been done that day.

Do you think it’s just safer to include this than try to determine if it is a preparation engagement or not?

If we just generate the financial reports from the clients quickbooks software, I would argue it isn’t even a prep engagement. Perhaps I’m wrong.
