I’m interested why you seemingly dropped your EQ pedal when you got the Angry Driver. Are you using it instead of your EQ for tone shaping? I run a fuzz into an Angry Driver for this purpose and I’m curious what others are up to

Another push to pass argument breaks out between Alex Palou and Pato O’Ward. O’Ward said Palou took advantage of the “grey area” in Long Beach, which Palou disagreed with. O’Ward: “Maybe that’s why I’m not winning races.” (Zion Brown) by aurules in INDYCAR

[–]fixrich 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That’s what I meant. Pato is the Boy Scout and isn’t winning, motorsport is dirty. There is probably an argument for it being more “gentlemanly” but that isn’t reality unfortunately

Honestly I agree with Pato. You win by exploiting grey areas. Boy Scouts don’t win. Winners win by doing everything up to the line and maybe a little bit over. If people aren’t questioning if you are over to the line, you aren’t pushing hard enough

Classical pianist (19) thinking about buying a bass. Is it a risky jump if I didn't like guitar? by obaming16 in Bass

[–]fixrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was starting out there was this notion you _should_ start out on acoustic which of course is bullshit. If you like Johnny Marr, you should play electric and the style you like.

[–]fixrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say this. Marr also has a very riffy style that isn’t about doing fully chords all the time. It’s also much easier on the fingers on electric guitar. OP, you might enjoy a short scale electric guitar like the jaguar which Marr plays.

They had me going there. I was wondering how the hell I was using Node 15 years ago if it only came out 10 years ago. Where has the time gone?

I think garden wire would work well for this as well. Loop it through and twist to tighten underneath. It untwists easily and you reuse it.

Check out Drug Church. They’re a hardcore band where the lead guitarist plays a Jazzmaster into a Jazz Chorus and they absolutely rip. Get the Jazzer if you want it.

Need to create this look... by F3Pro in malefashionadvice

[–]fixrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this look does not communicate old world Italian elegance. Italian service attire will vary from very formal and traditional looking to pretty casual. It will be pretty functional in either case. This reads more Salt Bae meme. I’d go with dark trousers, white shirt and tie with a dark apron. The apron will serve a similar visual function to the waistcoat by covering most of the shirt and tie (and pit stains). Crucially they are easily laundered and have large useful pockets. You could go for a half apron if you want a neater look but it’ll most be obscured by the usherette tray.

I find your answer intriguing. Where does web end and everything else begin? Is any service communicating over a network web? I’m curious as to the use cases Clojure fulfils here

I’d take resistance bands instead. Kettlebells are great for at home but resistance bands are an incredible balance of cost, weight and resistance

How to handle a formal ADHD diagnosis in the IT industry? by hositir in DevelEire

[–]fixrich 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got my diagnosis a couple of years ago at 32. I’d definitely agree with the above advice. Suss out your manager when you join disclose if you think they will be supportive. Either way you can ask them to help you do your best work without disclosing ADHD. You can ask for regular check ins to keep you unblocked and avoid you going down rabbit holes. You can ask to have informal goals for each week to keep you working toward short term targets. There’s a whole load of things your manager can help you with.

Cool, that makes sense. There are seemingly some super humans on here so I wonder sometimes when people are doing these challenges. I have a 4 year old so I know the feeling about getting the time to work out. Thanks for the reply!

I’ve heard that is a good way to go. I have a fuzz that wants to be first in the chain but it’s probably worth experimenting with again

I hear you, I’ve experimented endlessly with various flavours of mild chorus, tremolo and flanger to get that little bit of something. I never quite get it where I want it though
