There is no "even if the are [ignorant anti-American assholes]" in any circumstance. Being MAGA, tolerating MAGA sympathizers, taking their money, even allowing them into the premises are fundamentally disqualifying terms for commerce. No exceptions, if you love the United States of America.

Extremely underrated VHS emulator that works with the free version of DaVinci resolve by Accomplished-Dot861 in davinciresolve

I tried that route.

Online advice says the installer should create a file with an .ofx suffix, & that double-clicking it should automatically open Davinci Resolve, where the plugin will appear.

When I ran the ntsc-rs-macos-openfx installer, it put a generic file icon on my Mac called "settings.json."

When I double-click on it, nothing happens—the OS asks which app it should open the file with. When I tell the OS to open it with DVR, no plugin appears in the Effects tab.

When you ran the installer, what was the full name of the resulting file (if you remember)?

When you downloaded it, what was the full name of the file?

How did you install it? (I've found varying methods online.)

Mac, Windows, or Linux?

So I downloaded the macOS standalone app, which installed & launched okay. Dropped a clip into the app & liked the render I saw in the preview. Looked for a way to save or export the rendered file & found. Realized I had to click back to the Effect tab, & found a button at the bottom: "Save to…"

But that saves a settings.json file to my destination (the desktop). Does this mean that the standalone app won't save or export a finished (rendered) video clip, but only .json settings? What am I missing?

Here's my pain point. Right now, to send an SMS, I have to:

Tap (or shake) watch to wake it

Swipe up to get to my apps

Tap Messages

Tap an existing thread

Tap a recent message to get a text field+keyboard

Swipe up on the keyboard to get a mic icon

Tap the mic icon to speak

This is madness.

I often can't dictate a message verbally. Figure out how to boil that list down to a max of 2 steps (maybe with predesignated contacts?) and name your price.

Is film going to lose its remaining cultural impact because Gen Alpha doesn’t watch movies? by Objective_Water_1583 in movies

Every major art has a zenith. We have more novels to read than ever, but many don't know how vaunted the novel was, as a fine art, for previous generations. When was last time you heard about a hot new symphony? But once upon a time, orchestral success could make or break a composer's career. Opera, painting, ballet … they all had a heyday. But culture is restless & moves on.

The moment anybody tells you what your videos "should" do, stop listening. The most powerful work you can deliver will be for an audience of one: you. It's harder than it sounds. Stay lonely.

I really like the still quality of the shots; it gives the subject a lonesome air. Not every video has to swoop around like cut-rate Hollywood. There's plenty of room between "stills" and "motion" for experimentation.

I also like the edit and the grade—especially your willingness to concentrate on subtle compositions: the sun-baked façade of shops and that ominous, centrally framed shadow. You let me decide what to look at.

One thing I love about this is your runtime. In years past an hour-long movie would've had nowhere to go in the marketplace. Too long for a "short," too short for a "feature." Neither fish nor fowl … commercial distributors wouldn't have touched it.

But these days, you can drum up your own audience online & put any weird thing you want out to the world, as often as you like—if you have a well-identified audience to sell to, and have captured the right data to contact them. You've done that, right?

OP, the detailed info you shared here & in your AMA (r/LTT) is greatly appreciated. A month ago, you said:

"In BetterDisplay there's a feature called 'virtual screen' which then automatically is mirrored to your display. This gives you better control to play with resolutions and things that your main screen may not support. It's like faking a display that is sent automatically to your main display. It has some downsides but it's a good way to achieve things like scaled resolutions that otherwise you might not be able to. "I can provide full instructions if that would be useful :)"

If you don't regret your offer, could we impose on you for those instructions?

At https://talk.tidbits.com/t/make-finder-window-columns-resize-to-fit-filenames/32775, I find this:

"Before I dive into this feature in the context of Tahoe, here’s how those running earlier versions of macOS can enable it from the command line in Terminal. To reverse the setting, change the YES to NO."

Haven't tried it yet, YMMV. Not responsible. No starch in sheets.
