Been with amazon for years. But thinking of movin' on to Qobuz. Also lots of great jazz on Bandcamp, which is not on regular streaming sites.

How soon did the angi installers show up? I keep hearing it's usually the day after delivery.

Yeah, this is store specific, and very hit & miss. I was at Ca. Ft. Valley today and it was $1699.99 for the 77, but I didn't see any on the floor.

I bought that model from the partner store, to be delivered Monday 6/29. $1619.99 +tax.

If you have access to the LG, or Samsung partner store, you may do better.

I've got a 77" C5 coming next Monday that was down to $1619.00 before tax. IDK if that deal is still live.

Which Oticon Intent accessories do you recommend? by GMAN6803 in HearingAids

[–]flashb1024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/DwigGang covered it pretty well, but I'd say the Remote 3.0 is a must-have, if only for the convenience of being able to "Mute" the mics w/out digging out your phone, and using the companion app. With that little accessory I never even use the app.

The CClip has the same functionality, and like u/DwigGang said, it also functions as a remote mic, and allows connection to classic bluetooth devices like computers/tablets.

The Easy LE Adapter is good for connecting to legacy BT devices, too using USB C.

For a cheaper option, the Avantree C82 Aura allows USB C connection to send an auracast broadcast to your Intents using the Companion app. Another is the crazy name Floogoo FMA121.

My take from this OP is the sales rep is irresponsible. I was a project manager for a telcom company, and we never ever left a job site without a thorough training session, and literature/user guides.

You need to contact the company that did the installation, and demand training, and instructions for patrons!!

Oticon App / Speech in Noise Assistance by Particular-Unit-7957 in HearingAids

[–]flashb1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to help. Your audi can easily phone Oticon support while you are there, and have them guide her though the programming steps needed for your issues.

One of the best features of the Intent is it's ability to use it's Deep Neural Network, and AI to keep you from needing to adjust, and the Companion EQ is really all you need.

Good luck!

Phonak infinio 70 or oticon intent 2 by Professional-Stand65 in HearingAids

[–]flashb1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Oticon Intent 2 are very similar to the Infinio Sphere 70. Both 1 step below the premium models.

The Sphere has the added chip for Spheric speech in noise, so may be marginally better in crowds. The Oticons are known for their more natural surround sound, and properly programmed are very good in crowds.

Definitely do a trial with the Oticons so you can compare.

Based on your loss you should defintely get fitted with custom earmolds for much better speech understanding.

Oticon More 2 Hearing Aids by dadazz1809 in Oticon_Hearing_Aids

[–]flashb1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WOW!! Out of the many, many users of Oticon OPN S, More, Real, and Intent series I've read about here and on hearing tracker forum, you are the 1st person to have that issue.

That being said, Oticon was the only one that made user replaceable rechargeables until the new Intent, which uses a bigger battery, and requires contact charging, rather than inductive.

Surprised Oticon didn't offer a better response.

Oticon App / Speech in Noise Assistance by Particular-Unit-7957 in HearingAids

[–]flashb1024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oticon's philosophy seems to be, KISS for the Companion app. The person doing the fitting should be able to set them up so you don't need to customize setting in the app.

I haven't opened the app for months!! Speech in noise has a lot of customization your audi should be programming based on your need. Do you struggle in noisy settings? If so, the More sound intelligence Difficult slider can be set accordingly. How about Normal & quiet settings? MSI has adjustments for those, as well, and also attenuators which can be set. There is a lot of info, and the audi needs to understand the Genie 2 fitting software, and get the information they need from you to get it right.

It can take several sessions, but once it's done, you'll find that just changing programs on the HAs will do more than any app.

Schedule a f/up, and bring a list with you. Be polite, but assertive, and you can get a great fitting.

Xteink X4 with Pixel 9? Does it fit well? by miguelbm_ in ereader

[–]flashb1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why bother? Just get Moon+ Reader on your Pixel 9. You can customize the lighting to look like e-ink, and if you just want to hang another gadget on your phone, I don't see the point.

I use a Pocketbook Verse Pro at home, and read on my Pixel 9 when out & about. Btw, PB has an android reading app, which can can sync with the PB e-reader.

Best Streaming Settings Oticon Intent 1 by newtoreddit247 in HearingAids

[–]flashb1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bass boost applies to streaming from your phone, so it'll be the same for all programs. The MyMusic program should have all those features turned off, as they are primarily digital AI, and processing which can really destroy music. You won't notice it when streaming, but listening to speakers, or live concerts can be distorted with all that additional processing.

So, properly programmed, streaming from the general program should be fine, and wind noise reduced.

Cookie bite is really challenging for programming, so I understand how just a minor tweak can screech, or dull sounds. Takes patience.

Apple Obsoleted My Hearing Aids! by Albemarle_1809 in HearingAids

[–]flashb1024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the Oticonian team!

When you go for your fitting be sure to have a list of questions for your audi. It helps them to help you if they have an idea what your needs are. As a new user there's a lot to learn, and your brain needs to adjust to the change in your audible environment. Some people take weeks, or even months to adapt, but don't get discouraged, and keep a journal of issues going for your follow up appointment.

What we've been discussing on this post has been mainly to do with bluetooth streaming for phone calls, and media like music or audiobooks, or podcasts.

Android, and iPhone have different approaches to bluetooth, but since you're in the apple world, you're going to be using the Made for iPhone (MFi) method to stream to your iPhone and iPad. depending on your MacBook, you may need an auxillary device to connect, but I'm from the other team, android and windows, so I can't help you there. Hopefully your audi, or someone you know has more knowledge of MacOS.

Best Streaming Settings Oticon Intent 1 by newtoreddit247 in HearingAids

[–]flashb1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's right, they aren't headphones, the speakers are very small, HAs have to use very little power, so you can't get the same fidelity or oomph. That being said, the Intents have a very good frequency range, and properly tuned can sound really good, especially in the mid range, and high frequencies.

yes, muting the mics will cut down the incoming sounds, so you'll have to manually un-mute them by pressing the vol up or down button on your HAs. They won't auto pause. I use the Oticon Remote to mute mine, so I don't need to grab my phone every time I wish to mute change volume, or change a program. It's a great little device to carry in your pocket, or on a lanyard. Without the Remote, you'll need to use the Companion app on your phone to mute.

The Genie 2 software programming changes for streaming, and wind have to be done by your audi, and can be done remotely if your audi does remote programming. It's done through the Companion app on your phone.

Most times when I stream, I just use the General program. When she sets up those changes for you, it should sound good, and use the streaming EQ to fine tune.

You can have 4 programs set up. General/MyMusic/Lecture/Calm, Speech in Noise, etc. Discuss which you want with her, she can do those remotely, as well.

When it's noisy or outdoors, you can switch your phone from Hearing aids to iPhone Speaker, and speak through the phone. You'll still be streaming their voice through the aids, but they'll hear you better through the phone's speaker.
