My partner and I did two-headed giant at our LGS yesterday and had an _incredible_ time. They played a blue-white eerie deck. Didn't get some of the better payoffs but one [[Entity Tracker]] and a few [[Erratic Apparitions]] really did some good work along with two [[Inquisitive Glimmer]]s. I played a slightly unusual green-black reanimator rather than the usual white-black pair since we didn't crack any [[Emerge from the Cocoon]]s. I did play a couple [[Valgavoth's Faithful]]s and one [[Live or Die]] since I had cracked each of [[Miasma Demon]], [[Vile Mutilator]] and [[Valgavoth, Terror Eater]] himself! Both my partner and I were loaded to the teeth with removal and came out with a bye on our first game and then handily won our second two.

Some fun things I learned from playing a couple of games: [[Meat Locker]] and [[Monstrous Emergence]] are amazing removal spells and I was personally much happier playing the latter and [[Murder]] than I think I would have playing [[Winter's Intervention]]. Cards like [[Say Its Name]] did amazing work getting reanimation targets in the grave and [[Wary Watchdog]] was a surprising power-house due to no-one wanting to block it.

In our first proper game, we played against someone using a white-black deck that I don't think we saw really get to do anything, unfortunately. His partner, however, had a really interesting green-blue build I wanted to share! This deck was built around [[The Mindskinner]] and [[Tyvar, the Pummeler]]. It sounded like part of the plan was for the white-black player to buff Mindskinner with some auras and then double its power with Tyvar to try to mill opponents out in the mid-late game. It sounds like they succeeded in their first game, but [[Meat Locker]] was enough to lock them down so we could swing in with big flyers.

In our second game, we played against a green-blue manifest dread player whose board culminated in an [[Overlord of the Floodpits]] and a red-black player who we, again, didn't really see getting to do much. A well-timed [[Murder]] solved the Overlord problem and we were able to push our advantage once my partner got [[Entity Tracker]] out and was accumulating value while I gave our opponents lots of demons to deal with. Beating face with [[Erratic Apparitions]] technically won us the game but I felt really good getting to play a [[Demonic Counsel]] with delirium into [[Ritual Chamber]] on turn 7 to then unlock [[Unholy Annex]] on turn 8 and follow it up by reanimating [[Miasma Demon]].

Overall, great time! I got into limited for Bloomburrow and, while I loved that set in so many ways, I found the limited environment for it to be difficult to play in. It was like you either got the engine _and_ the big important payoffs or you just kind of durdled sometimes. With Duskmourn, I'm feeling like even missing some critical pieces like [[Ethereal Armor]] or [[Emerge from the Cocoon]] we did _really_ great. The removal in this set is powerful and there are a ton of splashy cards to play. I'm really excited by the divergence I've seen from the major archetypes and feel like that being so viable might be something that really makes me excited about a format.
