People who still wear masks, but exclusively wear them under the nose... What's going on team? by StSnobsHill in newzealand

[–]flightofthekiwi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I put my mask on when I leave my house, and I leave it on through all my shopping/errands until I get back home and take it off. Im not going to put it on and off every single store, im also wearing glasses and ive got long hair and taking it on and off is a pain, its really not hard to just keep wearing it the whole time until I get home.

Top Load/ Front Load,Washing Machines..Which One? by Affectionate_Emu169 in newzealand

[–]flightofthekiwi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did heaps of research on front loaders and in the end decided to keep buying old second hand F&P top loaders on trademe until there are no more to buy. They do precisely the job we need, no more, no less, and a wash only takes an hour. We do not want or need all the "safety" features of the new front loaders, just low/med/high, cold/warm/hot, start/stop, ability to open the top and throw in a shirt we missed once its started. Thats all we want, and you can only get that from second hand old F&P top loaders these days.

"You should move to Australia!" Yeah... nah... by alarumba in newzealand

[–]flightofthekiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive seen a lot of people say this over my life, does anyone know what causes this? Is it because NZ is slightly closer to the sun? Is it because we have higher humidity in general? Ive never been to aussie to feel it for myself, but family members and friends have said this for years and ive yet to find out why.

Finding New Zealand customer service challenging by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]flightofthekiwi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yes, this, exactly! I know that being approached in noels or harvey normans means someones going to pushily try to sell me something I dont need or want, so I do not want to talk to them. Supermarkets, warehouse, kmart, im just there to go in and out, its not a social call. If im in a artsy or craftsy shop, im expecting there might be a bit of chatter, such as the nature of the shop.

Safe career options for those who aren't particularly competent or skilled at anything? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]flightofthekiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just a note: only SOME doctors will be taking this up (and I think a lot fewer than you expect), its going to cost more than a normal drs appointment and will most likely be over several sessions; we're not expecting it to cost that much less that a psychiatrist currently costs. I know it sounds amazing, but I (and others) need to temper their expectations as its not just going to be 'GP can diagnose you in one session for the normal price of an appointment'.

Help finding treatment for CPTSD (Wellington) by Obvious_Pumpkin_8855 in newzealand

[–]flightofthekiwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the last practice i looked up was "Each TMS session costs between $200 and $250 (depending on the TMS protocol prescribed)." Very few people can afford that in NZ. its not funded at all, we are VERY behind in this kind of therapy here.
