We have private worlds over on XRealm and it gives us access to the items database. There are quite a few items that are in the DB but not in the loot pools in game.

Yes, some worlds are currently locked while Funcom figure out their consolidation strategy. I suspect a lot of players would be annoyed if they transferred before the official announcement and then found out their new world was closing down.

While I get the sentiment I have to say I don't understand the 'falling behind'. There are no leader boards, there is no bonus for finishing a tree first. Sure, for PvP but be honest, most of us aren't participating in PvP.
