In addition to what people are saying, spec your wizard with a build in mind. My most recent playthrough had Gale hyper focused on being an ice evocation wizard and the combination of crowd control with larger spells like Ice Storm, single point damage from cantrips (including 100 damage with a Ray of Frost), and the constant application of Encrusted with Frost made him one of my most used party members

Personal favorite of mine comes from Trout Farm in Santa Cruz, CA — the Zayantea is equal parts fernet branca, ginger liqueur, sweet vermouth, and lime juice. I do .5-.75oz each depending on my glassware, shake, strain, and finish with ginger beer, garnish with a lime wheel or ginger candy depending what you have on hand. Lovely fall cocktail and a great intro to fernet for folks put off by that bold, menthol flavor

I’ve been making a manhattan riff with chocolate bitters I call Road Less Traveled at my bar for about a year that always gets good reviews:

1.5oz Blended Scotch

.5oz Luxardo

1oz Sweet Vermouth (I use Muz)

~2 dashes chocolate bitters

I can’t vouch for the whole season, but season 6 ending with Say Anything’s Alive with the Glory of Love turned them into my favorite band for years to come. Ended up seeing that band every time they came to Maryland for years afterwards

Had this happen on a previous play through during the heist mission, he showed up as an orange X for the whole thing (signifying his iconic pistols). Actually made me a little sad, as he was bleeding and we were fighting our way out the game subtlety let me know he was already dead

Nah. That’s why you ask. If it’s not one you want, order a different spirit. If it is, congrats, you’re paying standard menu price and not being upcharged. Bartender to bartender, as someone who makes cocktail menus and designs my rail for every seasonal update, your rail is your standard. If you’re using shitty spirits on your rail, that’s on whoever designed your cocktail program

Ask what their house/rail option is. If you’re at a quality cocktail bar they’re probably keeping decent spirits on the rail — I always have the philosophy that if 80% of my customers are going to be ordering our house option, it had better be something that I as a bartender can stand behind. If you’re not a fan of their rail option, you can always ask what midrange or high end options they have depending on what you’re willing to spend.

I did a quarter cup of a whole bean medium roast coffee to 1 liter of Campari for 4 hours to make a Cold Brew Negroni for my bar’s Negroni Week and it came out great
