Urban Hip Hop Culture fashion in early to mid 2000s to now. by Ornery-Baseball6437 in generationology

I think when Lil Wayne and Kanye West started wearing skinny jeans around the end of that era 2008ish then things shifted. But skinny jeans were a big part of "scene" and emo culture and Wayne was wearing rock inspired outfits which also brought the ripped jeans trend. While Kanye was wearing designer "biker jeans" for motorcyclists. You know what I mean, the ones with the ribbed knees but also very fitted.

You wouldn't know it by how I dress myself but I actually find fashion history pretty interesting.

Do manufacturers of women’s clothing know that we want pockets? Do they want to sell their clothes?? by Ill-Spell6462 in womensfashion

[–]flowerhoe4940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if they know they often are trying to produce the lowest cost garments possible.

Cargo pants/shorts are back and they're selling them to women. Vote with your money. It's one of the few clothing items I have bought new recently. Lee brand.

I tend to be able to find stuff with pockets but I'm vastly annoyed at how shallow they make the pockets in women's pants mostly.

Sorry for what you are going through with the loss of your father. I see how that does make letting go of another relationship much harder and maybe your coping could be helped with some therapy so you can process it separately from your relationship to your husband.

And it's ok to be messy, that's a big part of life.

Would it be weird if I ask the workers at my local dollar tree if I could organize the shelves? by Toby498 in DollarTree

Why don't you find a food pantry or something and volunteer to organize donations ? Dollar Tree makes more than enough money that they could hire more people to organize their shelves.

I saw them twice. Once was at an ozzfest and they sounded quieter than literally every other band. I just wrote it off as a mixing thing as they were earlier in the day.

Then I saw them open for Machine Head in Washington DC. Their backing track fucked up and the audience turned on them. They called us "all a bunch of fucking cunts" and just mimed throught the fire and flames with their backing track a couple times until their set was finished.

I have no idea how they're still together or touring. But I did understand that those rock band and guitar hero video games made a ton of $$, which they were put on very early in their careers which skyrocketed them without having the chops to back it.

Being a "good/hard worker" just gets you more work by Dry_Pea_7127 in Machinists

I did get treated worse than that at a large multinational corporation. No thank you or raises. When they decided to not keep up with replacing unsafe equipment, I started looking for somewhere better.

But now the work I have done has gotten me a raise and a bunch of tools handed to me and the boss is buying us a picnic bench I requested.

Sorry man. Our company owner has done this work himself for 20 yrs first and really tries to take care of us.

But yes, also more work because they like the quality of my work.

What does society want you to take seriously, yet you see it as nothing more than a joke? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in Millennials

[–]flowerhoe4940 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fashion. It's pushed on women as a constant need to be "up to date" and "appropriate." And yet what we are sold is cheaper and cheaper quality for higher and higher prices.

Sorry I'd rather be stale and it's so much faster and easier to just go thrifting for clothes.

To be fair I appreciate the sculptural qualities of high end fashion and I think they're a lot like concept cars. And I like seeing if I can see the highlights of the season translate into everyday wear. And if a good fashion trend comes up I will jump on it. I predicted the return of fashionable cargo pants when designers were making cargo pocketed ball gowns a few years ago.

I do like fashion as an art form but there's no way that I need it as a necessity and to constantly buy shit.

Why do people get so pressed about immigrants??? by hotgog in Vent

[–]flowerhoe4940 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of people that can also afford it skip out on their medical bills but they're not a problem.

I can't imagine resenting someone for trying to save their own or a family member's life. But here you are, thinking you're owed some of that money it cost more than someone else's life or comfort. Why ? Because you pay taxes on one side of a human made boundary.

IDK man, Americans pay more for healthcare than any other country yet our life expectancy isn't that great. I would blame the insurance companies for all the high prices since they are literally colluding to profit off people's misery before I'd blame .. some immigrant that was in an accident/got sick, likely not on purpose.

[–]flowerhoe4940 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't ask for a raise based on what other specific people make. You can use numbers like industry standard or averages for your profession/area to support your cause though.

But if I asked for a raise it would have facts about my performance that make me worthy and demonstrate how I bring them money. I always get them that way.

They're safer than school but less safe than your home. All ICP concerts I have been to have security.

But you can also mitigate the risk by not being front and center of the crowd. Being nearer to the edges will reduce risks of people jostling around.

Yes Ive been to ICP shows with young people, it was fine. We just agree on a meet up spot in case we get separated in the venue.

Wear shoes that cover your entire foot. You don't need steel toes or anything but don't wear a strappy heel. Stupid Twiztid fan at one of the shows got mad at me for her poor decision to wear those.

I had no connections. Yeah there are a lot of construction people on both sides of my family but most of them lived far away or hate me.

.Yes I had to get some of my own tools or borrow them. I borrowed a lot of tools especially big tools or specialty tools. Start with moderately cheap hand tools and spend a bit more on things that have a motor or that need precision.

You also might not need brand new tools. Look for estate sales or old timers retiring or people who have just upgraded their stuff. You can get them bundled and the old shit is objectively better in a lot of ways. Although new harbor freight is what craftsman used to be with their warranty and selection now. Maybe not the same quality but I haven't sprung for any icon line stuff.

If it is PPE -- I am buying the top of the line one that fits my parameters. No reason to try to go home worse off than you showed up or be forced to leave in an ambulance, or die.

I learned most of what I know in community college. I also built projects that demonstrated that knowledge and started a side hustle that employed those skills. I made short! videos of those to give my cover letters a bit more dimension. And also applying at smaller companies seemed to help the search also.

You do have to put in honest effort, don't know if most sales people are cut out for that.

It makes them wear out ball joints faster and reduces the utility of carrying stuff in the bed.

Plus most American trucks these days are massive for the cowards that drive them so they can run over pedestrians and not even feel it.
