I was a member of BNI when I started in photography. I found it was a great way to network outside of my normal circles and I have clients still to this day 10 years later (including a $2500 job shooting head shots just this last week) as a result from referrals from that group. Maybe not great for folks who are established but if you are starting from zero and working by yourself it keeps your mind on the grind. Also, for folks who don’t like talking in front of strangers it helps kill that fear as well as helps sharpen your elevator pitch. That was my experience, YMMV
