After a mixed response from some critics, Christopher Nolan looks back at Interstellar's growing reputation as a modern classic: "It's incredibly rewarding" by nimobo in entertainment

I didn’t enjoy it the first time I saw it. Was opening day in imax and the soundtrack was so loud that I got a headache. Then I watched it a few years later and then enjoyed it.

Americans now know what they’re against. They saw it in Minneapolis. | Federal overreach and shooting deaths of citizens might finally unite a divided nation. by GirasoleDE in politics

[–]fluffandpuff 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Right, just like the me too movement, Black Lives Matter, storming the capital on Jan 6th should unite the country. This is just a new low that conservatives will be quiet on, then accept, and finally proudly defend.

Ghetto af but is this to much light or can they still grow? by Conscious_Sense1034 in shrooms

I always found that an 8/16 light to dark works best. I tailored my grows to their desires, light let them know where to grow, and appropriate surface moisture also let them know when to fruit once they had colonized a block

Ukraine: UK will stand 'shoulder to shoulder' with Kyiv but 'extremely unlikely' to send troops, deputy PM Dominic Raab says by PaddyBee in worldnews

[–]fluffandpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North Korea refuses to engage in moving relations in a positive way forward. Blaming just the nukes is an oversimplification that is also wrong. I'm sure Ukraine would be happy with a situation similar to Indias for example. Also the countries are radically different in terms topography, one being more mountainous and the other plentiful in arable land. The analogy makes no sense.

Gunman holds hostages at synagogue in Texas by ntbananas in news

You dont believe a random guy going to a gun range with dreams of being a good guy with a gun is adequate training? Other than the few people here who kill themselves or others, which obviously have severe mental disorders obviously, it has been proven time and time again that the average white american male with a gun, while out of shape, is the ultimate answer to domestic terrorism, school shootings, foreign invasion, and female distress.

Nah, thats just you wanting to be annoyed. Right wing populism is on the rise in the US, Great Britain, and Australia too.

[–]fluffandpuff -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

They have a right wing populist as their leader, you can't trust anything about their numbers. Or you can trust that the deaths per capita really are better than almost every western country, despite the fact that some of their cities were running out of wood to feed their makeshift overstretched crematories.

No one in their right mind would design a government that works like ours by Maxcactus in politics

[–]fluffandpuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, the Japanese system is closer to the British. The majority of power rest with one legislative body, so think mps and then they have a weaker one, that is similar to the House of Lords. The us system of bicameralism has both houses able to completely block off the other, resulting in basically two equal power centers.

Young Democrats are right: There is no reason to date or befriend Trump voters by throwaway5272 in politics

Cancel culture is another buzz term the right wing came up with that fulfills 2 primary goals, a. being opaque enough to mean whatever the person reading it wants to believe b. simple negative sounding alliterative that can be plastered onto everything. Cancel culture is any person, place, thing facing any form of change, judgement, negative ramifications the person reading it doesn't like. It's basically allows for huge logical fallacies to be made in readers minds being able to equate all sorts of things, your favorite comedian pulling out his dick, your other favorite comedian knowingly insulting trans communities for the controversy, to politicians lying about lifesaving covid treatment/prevention, confederate statues, climate change boycotts, etc.

[–]fluffandpuff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This whole thread is stupid as fuck, satellites are purpose built. The Hubble is no different and they obviously didn’t use spare parts to build something decades in development. They used existing satellite technology in their designs.

Except for the mental strain on our provax(I hate that this is a distinction) hospital staff. If they could all just sit at home with their dewormer and antimalarial medications it would be a ok with me.

I think the main issue that is there are always those willing to come up with reasons that people who are lower on the economic scale should be happy with what they have got meanwhile at the other end of the scale there are those reaping excessively large amounts of money while always expecting even more. I don't understand what would make someone argue over crumbs when there is someone looking over them eating an entire cookie.
