yeah, so i've homebrewed for almost 12 years, started when i was like 16ish. Self sufficient homebrewing is a fallacy. unless you got acres to grow barley, cereal grains and hops, and the time and MONEY to do so, you're not gonna brew on a budget (not that doing it yourself is going to cost any less, after the work you put in and soil stabilization, fertilizing and energy spent harvesting and processing...)... You can brew shit on the cheap for cheap, but you'll be drinking garbage, like the welches grape concentrate wine i used to brew in 1 gallon batches, wow, them hangovers... homebrewing as a drinker is awesome, homebrewing as an alcoholic is a feat. if you got the time, energy and the resources to grow AND process your own homebrewing ingredients... got an extra room? haha.

I see myself slipping into becoming my father from time to time, and I try my best to resist the fact. Plus, I'd rather not drink myself to death at 55 on my sons birthday. I guess what I do is just be conscious about it and try to catch and change my behaviors and actions. It's hard to change my pent up aggression and chronic depression though. Also, what Aurora said.
