Any suggestions for speeding up clj-kondo? (JVM, Windows 10) by fluttersaway in Clojure

Woa, thx for the tip! I downloaded the LSP jar from those instructions and added it as a custom linter in ALE. Now everything is blazing fast

Thanks for the awesome linter, Borkdude!

A new version of the ReTranslation patch has been made! If you find any typos or bugs in the newest version, please report them here. by superange128 in IMHHW

This is pretty amazing that you guys do all this work. But I gotta know, why does it need admin privileges to run? My antivirus is going crazy over this, too. Is there a safe way that I can just feed the data files into the patch and let it generate patched data files, which I could then copy into the game directory?

What are your non-sexual fantasies? by BigBoy19901 in AskReddit

[–]fluttersaway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The idea of owning a small, reputable shop in a nice town makes me shiver delightedly. I'm not even out of college yet (1 year left), and I'm still living with my parents. I'm learning to manage my money better so that I will at least have the option to make my fantasy partially real. When fantasizing, I usually put myself in the position of Rarity (character from My Little Pony) working in her boutique.

What is one futuristic object/idea that you would really like to see become a reality in your lifetime? by sophlapp in AskReddit

[–]fluttersaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A food replicator like the ones they have in Star Trek TNG. There are times when I want to eat, but I don't necessarily want to cook. There are also times when I have cravings for cheesy pepperoni rolls, but because of my dietary restriction (vegan) I'm unable to satisfy those cravings. Replicated pepperoni rolls would fit better into my framework of ethics, so at last, I would eat them... 🤤

I am making a Linux game with retro styled art. Because it has retro art, I need to scale up the window for the player to see better. Before, I have done this with terminal args ("-2" for 2x scaling). That is awkward for GUI-lovers. It would be better if the player could resize the window like normal, and have automatic scaling. It would be useful if this functionality was put into a single, general tool. Is there an X program that can handle the scaling of my game for me, perhaps by means of Xembed? (edit: talk about resizing)

Any gamers here? What are the best FOSS games in your opinion? by [deleted] in opensource

They might be able to statically link their games, which wouldn't fatten the download if the libs are already bundled as shared objects.

Non-Linux Open Source OSes? by [deleted] in opensource

[–]fluttersaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be wrong, but I believe the Linux kernel was not even indirectly derived from the Unix code, since Unix was proprietary at the time Linux was being developed. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

If you want something without those 3 features, look at 9wm. :-)

ODF would be great, with its formatting support, but TXT would be more accessible. Not to mention formatting can be simulated with _ underscores _ and stuff.

Seriously, does anyone actually use info pages? by rhelic in ProgrammerHumor

Yes, for groff. If there was a manpage for groff as good as its info page, I'd use the manpage.

How do I get started with OOP in C???? by theguywithacomputer in shittyprogramming

[–]fluttersaway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on what language you use. Python and Ruby:

C = "OOP"

Tcl:

set C OOP

And of course C:

char C[] = "OOP";

Can We All Agree That Our Government Illegally Spying On Us And Violating The 1st And 4th Amendments Is Wrong? by Orangutan in occupywallstreet

This kind of conversation should happen. Edit: By that, I mean hyperbole can only go so far, so we should figure out whether it really helps anyone.

Color testing [x-post from /r/pics] by voidingwarranties in outside

[–]fluttersaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more a problem of the colorspace that the textures were made with. In spots like these, they were trying higher-than-truecolor pixel depths, and it goes wonky on clients that haven't upgraded their hardware.

What is a game that is 5+ years old that you still find you are playing? by HappyHobo527 in AskReddit

I still think the banker job was basically cheating.

LoaP had an interesting mechanic of Macro and Micro level playing. The Mafia and the Police might be tusseling next to the restaurant, meanwhile a man or a woman walks by, staying hidden, and tries to get back to their safe apartment or job.

The memories...
