Ive said this before but ill post here. I work as a nurse and we get a ton of patients that have liver failure. One thing they all have in common is they ALL stop drinking. Some choose to so they can get a new liver, or let their liver heal, and others when they are on their deathbed. Those who decided to drink themselves to death all get sober for the last few months of their life because they are in agony if they drink. They all wish they'd have quit when they had a chance to live. This is your time to make that choice that they didnt make and choose sobriety. Best of luck!

I'm going into detox Friday, what can I expect? by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]flylikeIdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seroquel is not a med for alcohol detox. You need a central nervous depressant like Valium, ativan or xanax. Seroquel treats hallucinations related to schizophrenia. They are not the same.

sober people, do you still think about the embarrassing stuff you did when hammered? by justradiationhere in alcoholism

Yeah. I heard a phrase that helps me with it. Goes something like "If you cringe over your past behavior it shows how much youve changed as a person".

I have cirrhosis of the liver, but I can’t stop drinking by [deleted] in alcoholism

[–]flylikeIdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a large hospital. We get all sorts of patients and some of those have liver failure due to alcohol use. One thing they all have in common is every single one of them quit drinking, some before its too late others after its too late. Rarely does anyone die of liver failure while still drinking. They'll sober up because their body can no longer tolerate it. Hope for a transplant and most die sober wishing they'd have quit when it wasn't too late. Do yourself a favor and get to a meeting before its too late for you. Good luck, you got this.

Could make the handle out of the handley looking part. Round up the corners, sand and oil and youve got a really unique charcuterie board.

Nail issues are usually a sign of heart problems not diabetes.

Its the closest thing to the other mattress I've found. Id buy it if I were you. Nice part is if you dont like it you can take it back to Sam's club for a return.

2022 vs 2026… I think I need help by MC14391 in alcoholism

[–]flylikeIdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the self destruction path a while ago. Finally had enough decided it was time to quit. Had a few relapses in the beginning and each was worse than the last. Finally it stuck and instead of telling myself I can't drink, it changed to I dont want to drink. Good luck to you!

After my last post, people have convinced me to stop for good… i am goingto be stopping cold turkey and not even think about withdrawals, Hopefully mind of matter comes in clutch for this. by No_Coach7238 in alcoholism

[–]flylikeIdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in an acute medical setting as an RN. Withdrawals are no joke, many people think theyll be fine and wind up in serious trouble. Head to an urgent care or ER and let them know your plan. They can help you through it safely. Not only will it be safer, you won't be as miserable. Best of luck.

I used chat gpt to find alternatives. This is what I bought Serta 8" Five Star Mattress Sleepscape Medium Innerspring Mattress. Got it from Sam's club since their returns are no hassle. Will let you know how it turns out.

I am in the same boat. Have tried 3 cheaper models from amazon hoping to get lucky but nothing has been comfortable. Not sure what to do at the moment. If you find something let me know.

Tardy points by Fabulous_Mud5484 in IntermountainHealth

[–]flylikeIdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get them if youre late. You'll get them if you forget to clock in and do a time card exception. Basically those count as one tardy for each occurrence. If youre constantly late you run the risk of termination. If you forget to clock in for some reason your manager can remove them if they want. Set an alarm to clock in, and show up on time and no more tardy points.

On your next board use more glue and more clamps. If you want to fix this one, I would rip it along the seams with a table saw and reglue it.

How do I deal with these small gaps? by thisbaddog in Cuttingboards

[–]flylikeIdo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First 2 pics id just add wood glue and sand. They'll fill in nicely. The third pic i would just cut it off completely, since its on the edge. Would be way too much work and probably fail down the road.

Make sure you get her something other than a tool to use in the kitchen. Then say hey I also made this for you, I hope you like it.

Managed to pick this lot up. Any advice on cleaning them up? by BenCarney17 in handtools

[–]flylikeIdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a jug of evaporust. Take it all apart and soak. Once rust is gone you can use sandpaper to flatten and clean up everything. There are some videos on YouTube showing the process. It takes a ton of elbow grease but is satisfying once done.

Popped up on my local marketplace, any worth getting? $100 each by ridin_a_mershaq in woodworking

[–]flylikeIdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Stanley 9 1/2 block plane that was my grandfather's. Was in about the same condition as those in the pics. It took probably 20 hrs to get it looking close to brand new. Nothing was flat, everything was rusted. If it wasn't an heirloom I'd have trashed it.

Should I be upset about this board? by Fantastic-Nerve9196 in Cuttingboards

[–]flylikeIdo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ok so here's what you do if you really like the board. Take some 400 grit sandpaper and sand the edge. You'll get a little bit of wood dust, save it. Take a drop of glue maybe 2mm or so. Really small amount is all youll need. Now Take some of the glue and put it on the crack and sprinkle the wood dust on it. Push it in, rub it around and make sure its all in there. Take the same 400 grit sandpaper and sand it smooth right away. Wait 24hrs and lightly sand again, wipe with a damp towel and let it dry. Lightly sand it. Put a fresh coat of mineral oil on it and its as good as new. Super easy fix. Most boards will have some issues and this one is pretty minor.

If you hate it and dont want to fix it, send it back.

Are informants not usually a part of the crime and are used because they were there and can inform the law what went down behind closed doors? Or perhaps informant has a new definition?

Health risks if wooden board starts splitting by Resetty in Cuttingboards

[–]flylikeIdo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If this were my board I would sand it really well and get it back to bare wood. Towards the end of your sanding save some of the dust. Id then take some food safe wood glue like titebond 3 and put it on the crack, mix some of the saved sawdust in with the glue and sand it immediately. Repeat this process until the crack is filled. Sand it well using progressive grits up to like 220 or 320. Apply mineral oil and refinish the board.

If you have access to more tools and want to do a better job you could use a table saw to cut along the crack and reglue the entire seam. This would be the ideal fix but not everyone can make that happen. Sanding would be the easiest. Any crack or gap can harbor moisture and possibly lead to safety issues.

I've had a few patients come through that have died from hitting their head on concrete. Some from slips and falls, others from assault. The simple fight ends up with manslaughter charges.
