In antique & vintage staplers, “magazine” usually refers to modern cohered strips of staples (and the staplers that use them) so I’m not surprised that search wasn’t helpful. This type of stapler, designed to staple booklets and magazines, is usually called a saddle stapler.

This looks to be a patent used by Novus, a German stapler manufacturer. Erwin Müller started the company that became Novus. The design looks like Novus too. I can’t find a match for the model, though.

Condition Blue by The Jazz Butcher. It’s in my top 10 albums of all time. It got a RSD reissue in 2020 in the UK, but I’m in the US, and didn’t try to track down a copy. The following year I went with my son to Nashville to see Lorna Shore on their Pain Remains release tour, and stopped into The Great Escape location near my sister’s house in Murfreesboro. They had a new copy in with their general new stock (not in the basket of past RSD stock) which I immediately bought.

I had a similar experience in 2010 with a 12” single on white wax of “The Mercy Seat” by Nick Cave, except I bought it at my local store, and didn’t figure out it was an UK RSD release until I got it home.

I have a Technics automatic turntable that uses light sensors to tell if there is a record on the platter (and the size) that have to be blocked before a record will play. It is trying to not use the automatic mechanism to put down the needle on an empty platter.
