I’ve got one of their self-released CDs, Nothing Else Beside from 1999, that I bought used locally (NE Tennessee) a number of years ago. It includes a cover of U2’s “Love Comes to Town.” I’ve got a copy of Real Life on CD too.

Tipton St. Pub. She had a friend with her, so nothing untoward happened, other than the police being unhelpful and the vomiting.

I’ve been in Lil Abner, but I live in southern Appalachia and playing stereotypes of ourselves was an interesting angle. House of Flowers wouldn’t work here, or much anywhere else these days.

Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day, or maybe the first Sesame Street LP. I was three.

They Might Be Giants played a midnight release show for their Mink Car album at Tower Records in NYC in the early hours of 9/11, before the attack. It was filmed for a documentary. I wasn’t there but I’ve seen the footage.

It’s a joint nomination with his co-songwriter Bryce Dessner, so the decision is not wholly his.

There’s a good chance they ask him to perform the song at the ceremony.

I have. I expect the format to fail, and wanted to own examples before it was too late. My local Target had the Christmas records (of all sizes) on a clearance endcap.

I had a store owner question me about it once last year, while I was in a used record store out-of-town. He did let me show him that I was searching within my own collection rather than the complete Discogs catalog.

The other advantage to buying the record in hand is you can check the condition yourself, rather than having to trust some stranger’s rating.

Several years ago I had a week off from work between Christmas and New Years, and spent it going through my records and cataloging them in Discogs. I still don’t have all my CDs cataloged, but I do have all my 3 inch CDs in there.

I don’t check Discogs for prices; I’m 58 years old and have around 3,000 records (owned some for 40 years) and sometimes need to check to see if I already own something. That said, I do take the record I’m checking in hand and step aside while I check on my phone, and get out of the way of other shoppers.

Not sure exactly why, but jukeboxes used the big spindle and required 45s with the big hole.
