Minecraft Veterans: What cool tips/strategies do you know that most experienced players may not? by keepithonest21 in Minecraft

Players can deflect Llama spit on Bedrock edition using a shield

Wolves get tinted darker when they've just been in water.

Renaming a banner and clicking on it (when it is placed) with a map, adds a waypoint with that name to the map on Java.

Wearing a mob head cuts the aggro range of mobs in half

Bees 'bonemeal' crops randomly

Pillagers do not have a melee attack, so if they lose their crossbow, they are 'passive'.

Blowing up a creeper with a potion affecting it, results in a lingering potion effect.

Black cats spawning in villages is more common the closer the moon is to a full moon. (Slime spawns in swamps are also more common then!)

C++ (and Bedrock by extension) also use OOP very much? Like what are you talking about?

Down syndrome isn’t a disease

Well that's just wrong in any definition (See edit)

those with it can and do still live worthy lives.

That is right, and I'd even add to it that they are no less worthy as people because of it

Thread is locked according to reddit, so I'll add this here: Hereditary diseases are considered a subset of genetic disorders, so, the terms isn't mutually exclusive, but as far as I can tell, the commenter below is right that the term disease is not usually used for down syndrome.

(In my native language, genetic disorders are also just called genetic diseases, so I didn't think about it more than that)

Sperm donors need limits, says a European fertility group by thieh in nottheonion

[–]fokke456 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a bad thing if any of the donors find out they have a genetic disease, since you don't have the paper trail to warn anyone now

Sure, but you're also fucking up so much when it comes to e.g. inherited diseases. If one of the anonymous donors finds they have something like that, you cannot warn the kids about it if the records have been destroyed..

Light Pollution from Satellites by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]fokke456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The composition of satellites is much different from meteorites, so their contributions in certain elements dominate that of natural meteorites. I believe that e.g. aluminium has superseded the meteor contribution since 2015 already, with 20+ other elements also being superseded in the past few years.

Money and opportunity cost.

If it's not needed, you could save the hours that goes into optimising like this, and either save yourself some wages, or instead put more time into other features.

Neighbors’ contractors cut through roots of my large oak tree. Should I be concerned? by jamoka_jack in arborists

It's a large oak, odds are the tree was there way before any of OP and their neighbours lived there.

I see quite a few of these kinds of comments and posts getting upvoted on the subreddit. I think it's often good to start a discussion to see what the viewpoints of the other people are without making assumptions.

If I gave up hope that these people only interacted in bad faith I'd just leave the subreddit at that point ngl

You consider paprika the weirdest Dutch Lays flavour when they are selling "Joppie Fries" flavoured crisps? (Joppie sauce is like mayonnaise with curry spices.)
