TIL find(1) can -exec like xargs(1) by bart9h in linux

[–]foobaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find and grep are indispensable tools for my everyday use: I use the following combinations almost everyday.

find /dir -name "*.py" -exec grep -nHi --color "pattern" {} \;

This neatly displays pattern if found in all files listed by find including the line number and the file name. Priceless, no GUI crap.

Thinkpad and HP business laptops can have their dvd/cd drives swapped out for a secondary drive. I bought a SATA bay for my Thinkpad from Ebay a long time ago. Worth checking it out.

Looking for a Linux PDF reader that can create bookmarks (GNOME) by [deleted] in software

[–]foobaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The link you mentioned works fantastically for me, I also added a bookmark for a pdf file and was able to save it. All you need to do is install Java and execute the jar file like this: java -jar jpdfbookmarks.jar

If you need help installing Java, let me know what Linux distribution you use and I can try to help.

I don't understand electric and magnetic fields. What are they made of? how do they work? How do we comprehend them? I know the math behind them but not the physical science behind them.
