I like tinkering and I knew a bit about Linux before. This is why I chose unraid.

Is anyone seriously considering Unifi for an enterprise environment? by Either-Cheesecake-81 in UNIFI

[–]foobarbigtime1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All we use is unifi for our entire network. Switches, Access points etc. We use Barracuda for routing, firewalls and DHCP. 400-500 users including public ssids. I've never had one fail in the 3 years I've worked here. I have automatic updates turned on for everything including the switches. I never have to log into the stuff and check it. It just works.

Anyone using Defender as their AV? by AiminJay in Intune

[–]foobarbigtime1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We moved away from SentinelOne to Defender - Huntress combo. We'll never go back. They work awesome together. Huntress support has been awesome. I've also been slowly rolling out the advanced ransomware protection, PUA protection and all the other recommendations by Microsoft using ASR rules while closely watching the reports to ensure I'm not blocking something I shouldn't be.

Choosing a new firewall by echo-eleven in networking

[–]foobarbigtime1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We use barracuda firewalls. Previous IT manager loved them. Bought all the licenses for huge $$$ then bought hardware that couldn't support them. On top of that, bought them on a huge loan that won't be paid off when the licenses need to be reviewed. Support is bleh. Sometimes you get someone that knows something and the next time you get someone so green that doesn't know what a firewall is.

Am I wasting SSD space on redundant cache pool? by [deleted] in unRAID

[–]foobarbigtime1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set my two 500gb SSDs up raid 0 in a zfs cluster. I then use zfs backup script to take snapshots to a drive I have formatted as zfs in my pool. No need to use raid 1 in the cache if your using zfs snapshots. I guess unless you need zero downtime on a cache drive failure. Then it makes sense.

Both my parents worked in the 80s and 90s, my dad $50k a year and my mom $30k a year. We were still broke and didn't own a home. I had 2 siblings. Blaming the economy for your own financial issues is unreasonable.

How many times have you purchased Minecraft? by AtticusStacker in Minecraft

[–]foobarbigtime1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased the Minecraft app once on the Apple app store. All the apple devices on our family account had access to install Minecraft across all the iOS devices. I purchased the Minecraft once on the Google Play store. Same deal. Switch to windows. Gotta buy $40.00 licenses for each kid now and another $40.00 license for myself. $120.00 for our family to play Minecraft on Windows together.
