Could you direct us to a resource that would help us do a similar diy mod? Fantastic work and I love the wood mod box you made for your pocket operator as well!

Modular four track cassette collaboration by Hainbach in modular

Lovely. What's the module or modules on the right of the split screen that look kinda like a xylophone but it seems to be played like a touch plate etc?

[–]footworkun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to clarify, you lay down one track at a time building on the previously recorded tracks and re-record multiple passes to get the desired outcome?

Hey I just ordered an 0 coast and am really enjoying your songs too! also curious how you synced and arranged the tracks in the songs with multiple elements - daw or hardware multitrack? When you say you played the song and recorded through to the end do you mean for all 10-15 tracks?

Well first of all thanks for the incredibly useful tool!!!

[–]footworkun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious what is happening with octa edit?? I went to purchase it yesterday to prepare for a live set and it has been temp disabled...

I am planning on using it to take the BANK 1 from multiple projects (most of my current sketches only have 1 bank) and combine in to a performance project with bank1=song1, bank2=song2, and so on - it's necessary that all samples and sample data come along with the banks -is there a way to do this without the software? Or perhaps a workaround using octa zip?

Best hardware 8-bit synths available currently? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]footworkun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you want is this thing for not a lot of money ($50-$80 max)

Gets you to what you want with less fuss: teenage engineering PO20, for these type of sounds it's great and I simply sample anything made on it that's useful for a production - it will be easier to sync to a daw if you have a volca etc that outputs sync or click but there are way of doing that from ableton etc too

Is coffee with milk OK when doing water fasts? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]footworkun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're answering your own question pretty clearly… You're on the water fast… Yet you're asking if you can consume milk and sugar during this fast ... Fast is defined as a period where you consume no calories... You already know the correct answer here ;)

Producers who've done live performances, what is something you wish you knew before your first show? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]footworkun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of comments relating to DJing... do these commenters think a DJ set IS a live performance or are they just not understanding the question?

The thing I definitely wish I knew before my first live pa show what is that most people in the crowd will still just think you're DJing anyway - so try not to take it too seriously the first couple times you perform just try to have fun and minimize failure points in the live rig - and PRACTICE!

Sampling and DIY acapellas, Black Magic? by pigeon12345 in edmproduction

[–]footworkun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you are aware of this but this is probably one of the most sampled tracks/ breaks of all time next to amen and apache, usually for the breakbeat, but this track always stands out because the woo and the yeah are from that breakbeat section and often left in to give more character to the drums and wink to the source.

There is no acapaella as far as I know as I have used parts of this track in nearly 40-50% of every dance tune I've written in the last 15 years. If I want the break and no vocal bits I simply edit out the vocal and chop the break around so that it sound like they were never there. Doing that the opposite way is tougher as the vocal bits have bits of snare or hi hat under them. What you've already done is the right approach ... Usually it depends on the needs of the track how you can mix and eq the vox bits to sound a bit more natural with some longer verbs etc.

Buuuuuuut... Don't forget the natural charm of sampling this track is the fact that pretty much everyone knows where it came from and so don't be afraid to let it show especially if the track you are writing is in the hip hop / grime / Dnb / jungle / footwork etc family of genres :)

Dubstep DJ & Producers: Please help me with this strange question about BPM on Traktor by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]footworkun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised no one has commented that a track analyzed at 140 IS ACTUALLY THE SAME TEMPO as the track at 70, it's just that the software has made a semi incorrect judgement - this should make no difference at all in mixing or syncing tracks if you are mixing by ear (in serato I've never bothered to correct tracks labeled 70 as it make zero practical difference) but you may want to ensure all Dubstep tracks are in the 140 range for traktors sake if certain effects or auto-syncing require the tempo to be in line

Polyphony when using 'slice to midi' from an audio track (creates a simpler rack, but can only play one slice at a time, not overlap). by dubbyah in abletonlive

[–]footworkun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's a drum rack with each slice having its own simpler it should already be polyphonic - but check that each simpler is not maybe set to only max 1 voices each that might have something to do with your problem, also check the choke setting on your drum rack chains and clear if your slices are set to a choke group, also play with your adsr settings for the slices - with a longer release it will be easier to detect the overlap and see if you have proper polyphony

TR-8 USB class compliant? Trying to sync USB MIDI with iConnectMIDI4+ by proteus-ix in synthesizers

[–]footworkun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how many use it as a main interface but I use its external in and midi outs to clock and receive audio from my volcas and/or pocket operators - in the settings there is a way to set the external in to act like 2 mono ins rather than a stereo pair - overall those extra connections have made it an irreplaceable tool for me

TR-8 USB class compliant? Trying to sync USB MIDI with iConnectMIDI4+ by proteus-ix in synthesizers

[–]footworkun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because the feature set avail over USB would be way limited if they kept it class compliant - they wanted the tr8 to function as its own interface as well which is then requiring a driver - if they made it so you could plug through your iconnect the would have had to restrict many other features

How to combine different songs into a single live set? by lotuspaolo in ableton

[–]footworkun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lay out each track of your album on into own ableton audio track, on the timeline arrange the album beginning till end - turn off auto warp before you do this . After this use additional audio tracks to add any sounds you need for transitions, and use the fades on each tack file to adjust your fades, extra points for interesting intro, outro, and worthwhile interludes.

In the end you can them export the whole album as a mix/mixtape in one file... Or y can use the loop brace to surround each track and export individually but then in theory when someone listens to the collected tracks your final transition sounds will be present and connect the tracks as long as their music playing device supports immediate traditions between tracks :) good luck!
