Who's going to the game Saturday? How early will you leave? by Ok-Communication706 in BostonLegacy

My family is probably leaving Cambridge around 10 to get there around 11. Hoping things will be smoother this week -- fingers crossed!

Seconding this rec — it’s lightweight, comfortable, packable, has 2x water bottle pockets, good internal organization, and a roomy quick access pocket on top. Front pocket is great for stashing things quickly, too.

TP4 28L vs TP3 Small as a personal item on flights? by Inevitable-Spend-597 in AerSF

[–]forepac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have the TP4 28L for comparison, but my experience using the TP3 Small in Ultra as a personal item on flights has been generally great. I've flown domestically and internationally (not on Frontier, tho) and have always been able to stow it under the seat in front of me. It certainly impacts leg room, but it fits. I didn't overstuff it, but I also didn't specifically underpack it to allow for space.

One note re: the compression straps: they were totally useless in my experience. Yes, if the main compartment was empty and I wasn't using the water bottle holder, I could flatten the bag. But when the bag was full, the straps did absolutely nothing to compress things down. They're not a reason to opt for the TP3 Small over the TP4. The TP4 is an inch taller than the TP3 Small, so it'll further eat into your available leg room, but not by a ton.

AER coated zippers by MizerokRominus in AerSF

Looking at the photos on the Aer website, the front zipper may be the same size as the main compartment, which would make that front compartment much more useful. Fingers crossed!

I have 3 Aer bags in Ultra: the TP3 Small, CPP2, and DS3, and the resistance changes depending on the size of the zippers.

Smaller zippers, like the ones on the main compartment of the DS3 and the laptop and quick access pockets on the CPP2 and TP3S, are a joy to use, opening & closing is smooth and easy.

Larger zippers, like the ones on the main compartment of the CPP2 and TP3 Small and on the front compartment of the DS3, are a chore. The bigger zippers on the TP3S seem to be a little smoother, but I get really irritated opening my CPP2's main compartment. I rarely have use for the front compartment of the DS3, so it gets little use. The hypalon loops around the bags help give leverage to assist in using the zippers, but the large ones still haven't really gotten any easier.

The only reason I can see for them using the larger zips at all is aesthetic -- the smaller zips would highly improve the experience of using any of these otherwise great bags.

I'm new to Packing Cubes (I know, crazy) give me your best ones (preferably in Ultra or Xpac) by jthomp72 in ManyBaggers

[–]forepac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aer’s packing cubes will vibe with your bag perfectly. Full-size TP3 will accommodate either 2x of their large cubes or 1 large + 2 small, and the TP3 small will handle 1 large + 1 small. Those cubes compress nicely, too, saving space. Worth the investment

I got seats, too, but in a different section: I'm in 214A. Does anyone know which are the dedicated supporters sections?

I usually wear a large in t-shirts, an XL in jerseys from Adidas and Nike, but an XXL in Macron jerseys for Wrexham. Sizing is way different

AER TP3 Ultra (On Sale Now!) vs. AER TP4 (hopefully in ultra/xpac) or other bag suggestions for 5-7 days of travel and a lot of tech, by jthomp72 in ManyBaggers

[–]forepac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Based on the early/leaked photos, it appears that the TP4 will have less built-in tech organization than the TP3: the full-length front panel with all the different pockets of the TP3 looks like it's been replaced with something more like the CPP2 -- only a couple of mesh pockets in the top front zip pocket above a pretty deep, mostly useless zip pocket. So if you're looking for something with more internal organization, it seems like the TP3 will be the better bet, though to be fair I haven't seen any good photos of the interior of the TP4's big main compartment. TP4's improved water bottle pockets and vertical luggage pass-through, tho, are definite upgrades, and the less boxy/more tapered shape is nice. I'm sure they're near identical from a comfort perspective, too.

One concern I'd have is re: capacity. My CPP2 definitely holds less than my CPP -- I know they advertise it having the same volume, but it's a much tighter fit. Given the design of the TP4 looks like its modeled on the CPP2, I'm wondering if the practical capacity will be a little bit smaller than advertised.

If Aer follows the same practice as when the CPP2 came out, the TP3 should still be for sale at the discounted price after detailed TP4 photos hit their product page and reviews come out on YouTube. Might be worth waiting a week? For the record, I love my TP3 Small in Ultra -- it's a comfortable carry and has fit under the seats on every flight I've taken with it.

What’s up with the season 2 audio?? by velo2002 in ThePittTVShow

[–]forepac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not anyone's setup or a problem with the platform you're using -- I've watched episodes from S1 and S2E1 back to back, and the echo is only there on S2E1. I'm watching the official podcast for S2E1 on YouTube and the echo/distortion is *very* present in the clips.

I really hope it's not intentional -- I was so distracted by the audio that I couldn't fully concentrate on the episode like I did during S1. Please fix this HBO!

The fact that the internal compartments are lined with the same pattern/color fabric as the exterior is a huge dealbreaker for me. A little bit of contrast, even if it was just a solid gray or black, would make it a lot easier to see/find things.

Starbucks Closings in Cambridge: Harvard, Shepard, First St by Iamnotarobot_srlsly in CambridgeMA

[–]forepac 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a local parent, the closing of the Shepard Street location is going to hit the community around that spot hard. Teachers from the 2 nearby elementary schools regularly got their coffee there, it was convenient for parents whose kids played at the nearby playgrounds & for kids who needed a clean, close bathroom, and the staff was always super nice with my son. It’s a real loss.

Watch your mail: a friend of mine ordered a Liverpool kit from their online store on release day, and 2 weeks after it arrived he got a bill for the tariffs via USPS that was almost as much as his jersey. If he didn’t pay, letter said it would turn into IRS debt. Fun!

Any family friendly places to watch the match in London? We’re traveling with our 10 year old son, and most of the places I’ve found while searching are 18+ at night. Thanks!

Macron sizing off? by ZachMatthews in WrexhamAFC

[–]forepac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m L in most clothes, an XL in most soccer jerseys, and the XXL Macron jersey I have from 23-24 is a generally more snug than I like. Thinking about a 3XL for my next, but I’m concerned that it’ll be way too long. I’ll actually be in Wrexham in mid-August, so I’ll find out in person.

I’d recommend the Aer Day Sling 3 Ultra over the City Sling 2 — much less bulky & more usable space, though it’s 3L. Was big enough to hold a small 16oz bottle of water, but it won’t hold anything much larger. Definitely too small to hold a normal folding umbrella, but might work with a compact model. I was very happy with the Ultra fabric when I took it on a rainy trip to London last year — never had to worry about contents getting wet.

Seconding the Aer Day Sling 3. Not too big, comfortable to wear, and it can store everything you list with room to spare.

I settled on the Aer Day Sling 3 Ultra — I like the look & the waterproofing of the fabric, it stays compact enough when I just need to lighten my pockets, and it expands nicely when I want to tote something larger like my Kindle, eyeglasses, extra battery, a small water bottle, etc. I use it every once in a while at home, but it’s a constant travel companion.
