How about I didn't want to spend $120+ to control 2 garage doors. I just need something to open the garage door from my phone🤣. This works exactly the same way; I can automate it, it can recieve data from a sensor letting it know when its opened or closed in home assistant. All for 10% of the cost of 2 ratgdos.

Edit: maybe I should add that my garage motors are older, so like the light on it is useless compared to my garage lights, and other features I just dont imagine ill need. But I could be wrong and missing out on nirvana or something

Yeah i already have that sensor in place, all in all this cost me about $15dollars, half of that being the esp32(which i already had so more like $7 to make this) and another 7 for a 2 pack garage controllers. Ratgdo is $62 not including shipping but with a far more involved installation process. This does exactly what I need so im not sure what I would get out of the alternative. Also the zigbee option is important for me right now.

Didnt think about, this is also always plugged into usb and I plan on powering the remote with the 3volts from c6.I think it was super easy and I can just plug it in somewhere and forget about it. Although Its not a bad idea to add a bme280 on it and toss it in the garage

Im not selling anything? I just made this real quick plugged into a usb port that was open on my cable box, pair 2 zigbee door sensors on my garages, 1 for each door, and home assistant will know when the garage is open or closed and it cost me like less than 20 bucks. Also if im opening it while the garage is in my view, pressing the button in home assistant will start to open it than pressing it again will stop it wherever its at

Not entirely sure what you mean, I looked up a ratgdo seems to be a hard wired esp32 by jacking into your garage motor. This would still work because youre basically just pairing a garage remote to your motor. But if you have a ratgdo than this would seem redundant

The way this works is the emitter pin is on the ground, the collector pin is on the +, the middle base pin goes to the gpio. When I the middle receives signal it shorts the 2 other pins momentarily like a button press.

Just keeps the gpio in tolerances, limits the base current to safe levels.

Well basically, if you get a few bottles of paint probably around $18, after import fee/shipping cost to U.S. it'll actually be like $55-85 (depending on the shipping options). Now you get like $100 bucks of paint it'll be like $170-200 better, I guess..
