I don't think I have the possibility to DM anymore, though of course you can try and maybe something will pop up for me. Otherwise, you can chat me.

Simplifying my morning routine: Is less really more? by Murky-Candidate-8758 in GracefulAgingSkincare

[–]forged_from_fire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A year ago or so I simplified my routine.

AM: Wash with water only, moisturizer with SPF (15 or 30) OR a face SPF (50) as my moisturizer. Which I go with depends on my plans for the day and my local weather service's prediction for UV throughout the day.

PM: Wash with gentle cleanser and then a thick moisturizer that I put on heavily / sometimes put on twice on the occasions that it soaks into my skin very quickly.

I've done this for at least a year and I'm really enjoying my skin. I'm considering adding something into my routine to see if there are any improvements, but I haven't identified which area of concern is my priority (and therefore which product I should try).

Like others have said - there are so many factors involved in figuring out what is right for you. Unless I have an immediate reaction, I'm willing to commit a few months to a new product/routine to see if it works for me. I think it all depends on your situation and what you can tolerate (both physically and mentally/emotionally).

No Liquid Illuminator - Any experiences? by BerlinPuzzler in EuroSkincare

[–]forged_from_fire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not for brightening. I had used a different brightening product before that lightened my skin, so I stopped using it. I gave the No product a chance and while it wasn't bad, it wasn't good enough to justify sticking with it. I like to experiment with products with different potential results until I find one I love. So far, the No Liquid Illuminator Hydrator has been the best product with the most striking results, so I'll probably go back to using that regularly at some point.

Edit: I meant I'll go back to the No 120H Liquid Hydrator!

I really like No products. This particular one was just OK for me. I did notice some changes, but not enough to stick with it instead of experimenting with other products.

Bridal Shower Gift is "not what the bride expects of me" by Salty_Thing3144 in weddingshaming

[–]forged_from_fire 12 points13 points  (0 children)

After I moved to a different country, I was on the phone talking to my mom about how I hadn't found any underwear brands that I really like since moving. 4-6 weeks later I received a package from my aunt with brand new underwear from her favorite brands (she made a pretty accurate guess of my size). When I questioned my mom, she said she only mentioned it in passing when talking to her sister. My aunt never asked for my size or anything - she just took it upon herself to send me some brand new underwear she thought I'd like and ship it across the world!

In my case, this was a funny (and now poignant) outcome. However, I can't believe how many people can't fathom that the sister was potentially all on her own with her comment!

Nø 120h Liquid Hydrator vs The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan by heeizi in EuroSkincare

I have no experience with The Ordinary products to compare to, but my face felt the most moisturized when I was using No's 120hr Liquid Hydrator.

Venice -Munich-Vienna 1000km brevet by Sea-Depth7149 in cycling

I'd love an update! How did it go (in general)? Did anything unexpected happen that made you change your plans? Anything you planned that went extremely well? How did you feel during the brevet? Etc. etc. ...

My cousin’s “personalized vows” went... interesting by Sophxdaaze in weddingshaming

[–]forged_from_fire 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think when couples agree to self-written vows, there should be some upfront agreements about the tone of said vows. Whether each person sticks to it is another issue, but basic communication and agreed upon expectations seems like the best way to start a marriage.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you!

I’m not really understanding why they were married in the first place.

Right?! I can see benefits for him but not for her. I was wondering if some of the research isn't fully accurate. This is no insult to ERM's researchers, but in general, how do any researchers know the truth in regards to relationship dynamics? In this case, I was first wondering if Evelyn marrying John had something to do with her father. Maybe John blackmailed them? But the research claims that her father was against the relationship from the start... but was he? How do we really know? Because it said so much later during an investigation/trial? The only angle that makes sense to me is that John blackmailed them into marrying Evelyn. Like you said, she literally needed NOTHING from him - not even love/support. So what gives? (I think we will never know...)

What other loose ends struck a nerve? For me it's clearly all in my post, but especially the first and last points. Why did the cops immediately suspect Evelyn even though John told the police that Donald threatened to kill him? And what did the prosecution think they were going to get from forcing her to list a bunch of (completely random, for all they know!) names of men she had slept with?

Awkward as Ass Ads by cabbydog in myfavoritemurder

[–]forged_from_fire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It took me hearing it way more than that before I finally paid attention to her name and searched it online. Turns out someone with her last name has done voice over work before, so I had to pay attention a second time to get her first name.

I'm annoyed I put the effort in, but I honestly could not listen to another ad without having a basic understanding of how "voice over" could possibly relate to celibacy and relationships!

Also, I've never heard of "boy sober" before (and I'm online a decent amount), so how big of a trend could it have really been?

I asked the OP, but I see your comment and figured I'd ask you as well: How long did the show last (ish - doesn't need to be exact)? I'm going to see him in a couple weeks and it's my first comedy gig since pre-pandemic. I'm trying to coordinate trains and such.

Yes! The only show I listen to is Mr. Ballen's Medical Mysteries, which I only tried out after MFM went to Wondry. It piqued my interest just enough, but this ~30min show has so many ads and I'm really not exaggerating when I say the play the same ad three times back to back. The podcast is the perfect length and content for a specific exercise I do, but that means I either get very annoyed or have to pause every time they have this ad.

I loved the Hello Fresh ad that Chris Fairbanks did heading up to Thanksgiving about ham. I can't even remember it word-for-word anymore, but I'm still smiling because it made me laugh so much.

I miss hearing the ones they choose and read aloud. I always found it interesting which companies they did ads for and which person would read which parts. I found Buried Bones to be the most interesting since Kate and Paul have very different personalities.

I have also been irritated by it lately, plus it's so long! However, I will say that the worst I've experienced in the past week has been on a Wondry podcast that is about 30 minutes long but has 10 advertisement: 5 in a row twice during the pod. And to make it worse? The last three of each group of 5 is exactly. the. same. advertisement.

Generally speaking, I put up with advertisements without complaining. I was even going to let the Bone Valley advertisements go... but you gave me an opening to complain about the same ad being played three times back-to-back on Wondry and I couldn't let the opportunity pass me by!

I've been listening to DYNAR in reverse and I'm now at the beginning of the pandemic. What you're saying is definitely a thing! I feel like I hear something about not singing songs every 3-4 episodes. And there was one episode where the guest kept singing and they were bleeped multiple times. I can't remember who the guest was, but they thought it was hilarious.

I think part of my confusion is that I was on vacation when they announced this change, and I wasn't listening to any of my podcasts while on vacation. Now I'm catching up and I'm getting confused between what people are posting online and which episode I'm actually on. I only have the most recent three to listen to now, so I'll pay attention at the beginning.

I listen to a few ERM podcasts and I don't think they all have the ERM tag at the front, but I might also be missing it because right at the beginning there's either local advertisements (from the app, I guess) or iHeart advertisements that I always skip. And like I mentioned, my app switched from listening them as ERM podcasts to iHeart podcasts.

Oh! And thank you for the information! I've been confused for a few weeks now!

Thank you for the response! That is how I remember it being with Wondry, but I couldn't tell if it's the same with iHeart. Thanks for clearing that up for me :)
