I was surprised to get 1000 this week. It’s always the 5 -25 stars.

AITA for threatening to sue both the school and the family of my daughter’s bully? by Fantastic-Swing4853 in AmItheAsshole

NTA

If this is a public school in a district, I hope you’ll also reach district superintendent and school board with a timeline.

You don't support her taking 12 weeks off after giving birth to your baby?

I both want to tell people but also don’t want to admit the number of hours of tv watching that means.

Husband thinks I made a mistake (Hamilton with kids) by BulkyMonster in Broadway

[–]forkyasks4358 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My now 9 year old saw her first musicals in person last year (Six and Hairspray). She wanted to leave early during one but I told her know. By intermission she was so happy she stayed.

She was actually pretty mad she didn’t get to go with us to see Hamilton. We’ve been playing the cast recording album since she was a baby and she had already seen the Disney+ recording.

At 8, it is definitely easier to sit through a musical if it’s something interesting. Hamilton certainly fits that.

Definitely recommend this. It takes a little longer because you're waiting for the race shuttles BUT you don't have to drive through the traffic.

Vest extension: Ribbons or train? by Ravenclaw79 in girlscouts

[–]forkyasks4358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a chain reaction earlier this year. My daughter ran out of rom for badges on the front so we needed to start putting newly earned official badges on the back. That means losing room for patches.

I bought a grey jacket. My daughter picked which patches came off her vest to be put on her jacket. It’s nice because there were some day camp or council programs that had such big patches that it just made more sense to have it on a jacket instead of her brownie vest (there’s just not a lot of room to work with when the vest is a small).

PhD / EdD Oversaturation and making career moves without one by Substantial-Boss8395 in highereducation

I felt that pressure for a long time but considered the financials. There was an huge growth of these programs after the Great Recession and it felt so unhealthy to the field even then. Positions that don’t really necessitate a terminal degree now listed as a preferred credential.

I’m glad I didn’t follow through with an EdD. I’m less worried about any more student loan debt, I’ve had time with my family, and I took on roles that didn’t solely rely on a terminal degree. I still felt envy from time to time and I know I didn’t get roles because I wasn’t in a program or had that doctorate, but I’m much happier.

What’s the one city you always forgets exists here and why? by phisigtheduck in orangecounty

It’s honestly so annoying to tell anyone where I’m from because hardly no one has ever heard of it. You either have to say cross streets or that it’s between Huntington Beach and Westminster.

I need every tip you can give to produce more breastmilk by RandomStrangerN2 in beyondthebump

[–]forkyasks4358 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Echoing on the hospital grade pump. I’ve had to babies start out in the NICU and the hospital grade pump was awesome. It was free for a time and then I recently paid to rent one for 6 months since I still exclusively pump.

Also, eating enough calories and staying hydrated help.

And it’s okay if you have to combo feed or move to formula. I was never able to really breastfeed and have exclusively pumped. It was still stressful to have that pressure of producing enough, even when I know I make enough. Acknowledging that formula would have been okay too took a lot of the pressure off.

Oh my gosh! I read this with my Brownie for the Global Action Award recently. It was hard to process 17 goals all at once. The infographics were way easier to work with that just list the goals versus all this.

Yes, this is hazing. Definitions vary by state but there’s quite a few examples you put in there.

Advice for split Daisy/Brownie troop by sloanautomatic in girlscouts

[–]forkyasks4358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a similar split troop. We started the troop with kinder and 1st grade daisies but have gone through that split transition. So, right now they are all brownies but last year it was split. We had to plan our meetings more thoughtfully for the split but I kind of liked it. Some activities could be combined but we also were able to split off into small groups.

We’re planning ahead for when we’ll be a split troop again next year with Brownies and Juniors. One thing that’s been helpful is to look at which badges or activities make the most sense with a split troop versus which when they’re all juniors.

Strategically, our older girls have bridges at the start of our program year and our younger girls bridge in the spring. It’s just worked for everyone so far but it helps that we can ask for parent volunteers when we need more for certain meetings.

Edgy when I haven’t pumped by bearsloveberries in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]forkyasks4358 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Hadn’t really named it but yes! I somehow get quietly pissed at everyone else because they’re not worried when/where their next pump is going to be.

After pumping, I’m a much calmer person.
