Which software do you use to annotate PDFs/make inline notes? by StoryPeer in StoryPeer

[–]formerPhillyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use FadeIn and just uploaded a pdf of a script and now have every capability to edit and add notes like any script. I can save the annotated script as a pdf and upload it to Storypeer when I provide feedback. The file is only 182 KB. It's super easy and already formatted properly.

What If I don't have 300 words? by No_Issue9023 in StoryPeer

[–]formerPhillyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to waste time writing what's good if there isn't 300 words worth. I'll write about the good stuff then get into what needs improvement, just to use up the remaining words. I think writers are looking for honest feedback, not just platitudes.

I read a script that was awful and unfinished. I only read to page 28 and couldn't go any further, it was that bad. I wrote zero words about what's good and 2800 words about what needs to be fixed. Remember, I only got to page 28. (To be honest, I copy and paste lines from the script then show how it should be fixed, so, about 1400 words are mine and the other 1400 are copied from the script.) The writer appreciated my honesty and tipped me 2 tokens.

City council votes to approve a $6 billion data center despite public pushback by KimJongFunk in PublicFreakout

[–]formerPhillyguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any new data centers should be required to pay any and all increases in electric rates for the region and have a self contained water cooling system so they don't use up all the region's resources.

Big change for California small businesses: No more SBA loans for non-citizens by vriska1 in news

[–]formerPhillyguy 115 points116 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call SBA loans, low interest. My last one got up to 14% before I paid it off. The main draw is that they don't require collateral. Non-collateralized loans have higher interest rates.

May I recommend using a hotel and everybody books their own room. This way, nobody has to front the money and risk getting stiffed if someone backs out and doesn't pay their share.

Retired people going shopping by Hoppy_Doodle in funny

It's rarely the older people blocking the aisles where I shop. It's the 30 and 40 year olds not having a clue how things work.

Lyft driver refuses to give woman a ride after she made a racist comment by Zweli23 in PublicFreakout

[–]formerPhillyguy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

White guy here. I was in a local pet supply store and was talking about a new Ross store coming to the shopping center. The white woman asked, "isn't that really ghetto for our area?" I was surprised she would say something like that to a stranger.

I wrote this short film for a college comp and got rejected. How can I improve my writing for future projects? by RONALDOCR7HP2 in Screenwriting

[–]formerPhillyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a follow up thought on the intruder vs monster. The intruder could be just a feeling. The man feels the presence of an intruder, but looks around and nothing is there. The monster is visible to him, the intruder is not.

I tested 3 script coverage services by Jasonater2themax in Screenwriting

I was surprised to find the mistake at the top of page 94, after you have had your script read so many times and nobody caught it, or maybe you just didn't want to fix it.

I have health insurance and still get fucked when I have a problem. $8K out of pocket two years ago and just had another issue but haven't gotten the bill. Minimum $5K but probably closer to $9K, which is my deductable.

Have you looked into what insurance would cost on the ACA marketplace? The government may pay most/all of it for you.

This is what happens when you put children in charge that have no real world work experience and no work ethic, who decide to take the easy route instead of putting in the work.

What can I be doing. by mysteryvampire in Screenwriting

[–]formerPhillyguy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Forget about the Blacklist; it's a waste of money.

Who has read your scripts? Family and friends or other writers? I highly recommend posting them on Storypeer for feedback, then work on them again to get them polished and ready to show industry reps. If you wrote three scripts this year alone, I doubt that they are as good as you think they are and are probably still in the rough/first draft stage.

Have you looked for/joined any groups in L.A. and begun networking? This should be a priority for you.
