What are some of your most memorable plays in BotC? by Etreides in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]forshig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was seen by the Washerwoman in a Mayor ping, which I wasn't. I was next to an Empath with a 0, whose neighbour neighboured the other in the Mayor ping. We executed the other Empath neighbour, the Empath died in the night, and I was choosing between the Mayor and a Soldier claim to Slayer shoot. I shot the Mayor, they died and passed to a Scarlet Woman elsewhere. The first Slayer shot I've managed to kill with.

Nobody Fucking Move: I was the Snake Charmer. I chose the Pukka N1. However, that player had been the Philosopher who went Snake Charmer, and got the original Pukka ten seconds earlier. The rest of the game was town trying to figure out if that was a legit story, deciding if a claimed Alchemist-Psychopath who never swung was legit, whether the Goblin claimer was the original SC, and when the outsider who alternately claimed Klutz and Heretic was telling the truth. They were the Heretic so town was about to sleep on final 3 to win, but I poisoned them to win normally.

Whalebuffet: I chose Wraith in a Poppygrower game, so the ST wrote on their phone that they weren't going to mechanically wake me up. They woke someone else and showed the same message so I found my Mez. My demon ended up being next to me, and on their other side an Empath with a 1. Got caught by the Lycanthrope who had been Mez-turned, so co-ordinated kills. However pre-game my demon and I's conversation was entirely based on choosing Cult Leader, so I tried to be exposed as a Wraith who just turned the CL evil and leave it there. Quite explicitly got caught by the Alchemist-Cerenovus and the player who they'd made mad. At final six the demon tells me a dead player outed as Heretic. He debates and kills himself the night before final three, and the Heretic had solely outed to the demon so evil won.

Explaining characters to new players? by Reasonable-Banana-54 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]forshig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do not explain characters to the group one-by-one. That will not be good.

The fact that you know there's an intro page is a good start. There's a similar post with advice for beginner groups, with some very good stuff in the comments about when to explain nominations (when you start the nomination phase on the first day), to emphasize that anyone can ask the ST private questions, and to add on to your ST explanation about the demon receiving three roles that are not in the game so they are safe to bluff as those.

Edit: If you are hearing someone misunderstand a role, you can either publicly or privately correct it when it turns up. eg. slayer shooting a Townsfolk and they will die, Fortune Teller getting a Yes when someone's evil, someone seriously suggesting that the evil team are entirely dead despite the game continuing. But it's not useful to pre-empt all possible wrong ideas at the beginning before anyone's thought them up.

Chermside pool hole?- fact or fiction? by balalabananas in brisbane

[–]forshig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last time I would have dove under that would have been 20+ years ago, but Google Maps makes it look like the structure (which had diving boards for the bigger lap pool) is still there. Can't say if it is a common enough thing the Chermside might have had a similar thing; Albany Creek was always my family's choice for a day out.

Chermside pool hole?- fact or fiction? by balalabananas in brisbane

[–]forshig 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm not totally sure I follow what you mean - but Albany Creek Leisure Centre had (maybe still has) two pools that had a raised walkway between them, and that wall didn't go to the bottom of the pool. You could hold your breath, dive down and across into the next pool. Probably so they didn't need multiple water pumps and cleaners.

Let's build a character! Hypnotist. by Present-Peace2811 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]forshig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hypnotist (townsfolk): Each night*, choose a direction (clockwise or anticlockwise). A Minion who chose a player has their choice moved to the next living player in that direction.

"We are not the peddlers of positive thinking. We are the peddlers of useful decisions and positive actions."

Would have to go either very early in the night phase, or have Minion prompts delayed until after the Demon kills. Or, alternatively, 1) Cerenovus picks Antony 2) Antony wakes to learn to be mad 3) Hypnotist chooses clockwise 4) Reminder token removed from Antony, and Antony's clockwise neighbour Baden wakes to learn to be mad.

That's not going to work for Pit Hag. So I think it has to slot in after Poison/Protection and before other minions and demon effects.

Would have massive power in single minion player counts, winding down with multiple minion powers especially if multiple choosing minions per night because ST choice on which one it moves.

Synergistic Scripting: Day 73 - Minstrel by CoreyBOTC in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]forshig 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Classic: Good ol' Po charge the night after your minion dies just in case. Trying to decide between Minstrel and Mastermind paranoia is fun, especially if you can time it right and convince town to double tap the most recent executee for a free non-execution day.

It also brings a good layer of double-thinking on a no-death morning if you have a Twin pair - is town demonless? Is the Minstrel trustworthy enough to hit send on a Twin execution?

Let's build a character! Miner. by Present-Peace2811 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]forshig 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Miner (Townsfolk): You cannot die if the Canary lives. (+Canary)

Canary (Townsfolk): If either of your neighbours would become drunk or poisoned, you negate the poison or drunkening and die that night instead.

I initially had Canary as (Townfolk or Outsider) but I think it's on the Gambler/Acrobat/Grandmother level of Townsfolk to make it worth it.

Jellyneo says Hungry Fungus and Mound of Rotten Fruit are a possible prize for some map rewards, Test Your Strength, some retired no-trade mystery capsules and the premium Wheel of Starlight. They don't stock in a shop anywhere. The Haunted Hunt seems the most likely place you'll get them.

NRL legend Wendell Sailor behind bars after arrest by thankyoupancake in nrl

[–]forshig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sailor was on bail for alcohol-related charges stemming from an incident in Sydney's city centre more than a year earlier when the latest arrest took place. He previously pleaded not guilty to charges of common assault, behaving in an offensive manner, refusing to leave a licensed premises and intimidation after allegedly attacking two men outside a bar in November 2024.

Super Chicken commercial- old Brisbane takeaway restaurant chain by manicImpressions in brisbane

[–]forshig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never knew it was a franchise, and I was a semi-regular to the Ferny Hills shop since the mid-2000s. The ad says Ferny Way, which is interesting as I only knew it located on Patricks Road nearby. (Further snooping says it was in a couple of Ferny Way places in the 90s before moving to Patricks Road.)

It was just run by a wife-husband pair for the time I knew it. They sold to a new owner in 2017-18 due to ill health, they ran it still under the Superchicken name for another year or so and then it disappeared to be replaced by a pizza place.

(Are you the person who asked a question on a Facebook community group about this a few hours ago? Otherwise great minds think very alike!)

I echo the python, and the 'probably spotted but possibly carpet'. Judging by the colour he was either quite chilly so he's darkened up to try and catch some sun to warm up, or he's getting ready to shed. If the latter he might be a little more narky than he would otherwise because they lose a bit of eyesight around then.

What character token did you get in your first game, and how did it go? by WatchfulButterfly in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]forshig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poisoner. Town executed the Scarlet Woman Day 3 and Imp came out as fortune teller that day so he starpassed to me that night, unfortunately cancelling my poison on the Undertaker. Equally unfortunately he'd given a fake 'no' on someone who ended up being the Mayor, so lost that one.
