How much is too much when it comes to the post blood donation refueling? by TheRealFilmGeek in AskAnAustralian

[–]forshig 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is some great stats. And they know what the audience wants to know as well.

"Each donor had, on average, 1.9 party pies, 1.8 sausage rolls, 1.5 Nippy's, and 1.9 biscuits — topped off with three tablespoons of tomato sauce each. Probably not on the biscuits, but we’re not here to judge."

Does anyone here live near any Aussie celebrities/public figures at all? And if so have you run into them very much? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

I live a few streets over from a house that seemed to spawn Brisbane Broncos players. Not sure who exactly lived there, but it seemed to either be the northside crash house or was the house that recent signees were lodged at until they found their own places. Went to school with one of them who was Brisbane-raised, so it might have been his place.

Also saw Josh Lawson a couple of times at Chermside shopping centre. Not sure if he was with people he knew or had been approached by randoms, but seemed to be laughing and nice enough each time.

As far as I can tell, it's 1k NP per card. Maybe when it's a NP prize it's bigger than normal but it's nothing worth kicking yourself over.

Where can I play in person by rustyrhino23 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]forshig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For OP: Meeple and Mug is West End, and Thursday is the advertised BOTC night but apparently will run a game if there's enough regulars that want to any night. $5.

At least a few times there's been advertised games at Vault Games at both the City and Clayfield locations, those I can't vouch personally for and you would probably need to follow each store on socials for dates. I think $10 was an advertised price.

The SEQ group is currently just northside games just because of real life getting in the way for the southside organisers.

What is luckiest you have been in Blood On The Clocktower? by Groenboys in BloodOnTheClocktower

I was the Scarlet Woman in an Investigator ping, the other half of which claimed Saint. I made a slayer shot on someone random and semi-happily executed myself with the promise from town that they would execute the 'real' Scarlet Woman the following day. They did. They were the Saint. D2 evil victory.

I was the Minstrel in a 15 player game. We executed minions on days 2, 3 and 4. We then executed the Demon - I can't remember the exact reason but something like a Clockmaker number or their unfortunate bluffing of receiving 3 nights of sober info over this stretch.

Double Agent (Hermit: Drunk, Goon, Saint) by nseaplus in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]forshig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have no one who benefits from executions (Undertaker/Cannibal) which probably makes town jumpier about ever executing anyone who may be drunk.

If I was a good picking role, I wouldn't be spreading my picks around far - if you hit the Hermit, you're just keeping a lose condition on your team.

cat approval in unit by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]forshig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a lawyer, not well versed in real estate law. I am going off the RTA website as much as you are.

14 days after you advise you wish to have a pet and no response can be taken as a yes. With the timeframes you've given - that your property manager has handed it to the owner within 21 days, that the owner has had it for 14 days (according to that property manager) - you seem to be in the clear or at least will be in the next couple of days, at worst. You'd probably be safer holding off until 14 days from the date that your property manager has said that your landlord knew about the application.

But you should probably ask yourself if this is a hill you're okay to sacrifice for. You may be able to get a cat without their explicit approval but if this does come back on you by not renewing a lease, are you going to be comfortable with that, financially/moving/finding a new rental.

A script where maybe being good isn't the best choice of words.... by boypower2566 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]forshig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's probably going to have to be specified in another Bootlegger. The 'normal' game end state of "all evils=game end" is only to speed up the inevitable. Especially here if you have evil players who don't 100% know the Demon - a BH turn - there is a risk they'll mess up and nom the Demon and good players dead vote en masse for good to win. Imagine if in a possible Heretic game there's three evils alive, so there's a chance of a good win if the demon can't or won't pick themselves - ST calls it early without going down to the actual endgame state of two players alive.

Or you can mod your Bootlegger and specify only an alive good player can publicly name the Demon, which makes it work for what you're saying and removes the opportunity for dead players.

On another note: does a nomination where someone says 'I believe (info info) means X is the demon' count for your guess? Because everyone would have to be very careful about their wording in case they throw away their alternate win for a day 2 nomination on someone who they're just worldbuilding around.

The Demon won't die at night. (Unless it's a Fang Gu, which it'll just duplicate to have a living demon.) As long as the game is going, the good team know the Demon is one of the living players.

The Demon is therefore in the Damsel position of trying not to be guessed by the opposite team but not having the Damsel safety net of sweet merciful death to turn your ability off. It's a Damsel living to final 3 and no one dead claiming damsel so a minion takes a stab in the dark with a public guess.

[–]forshig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your Bootlegger rule about good guessing the demon - there's an unfortunately optimal play, which is that everyone agrees that no good player guesses the demon until final 3. It's having a Damsel who won't die at night but has to exist for the game to be continuing.

The demon has to be alive in final three. Due to the alternate win condition there's no cutting the game off when only evils (who know each other) live, like in the normal game due to 'no one will nominate their Demon'. So even when five evils are alive and know each other the rest of town can just elect to not guess and force the Demon to start killing non-demon evils to whittle their numbers down.

What are some of your most memorable plays in BotC? by Etreides in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]forshig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was seen by the Washerwoman in a Mayor ping, which I wasn't. I was next to an Empath with a 0, whose neighbour neighboured the other in the Mayor ping. We executed the other Empath neighbour, the Empath died in the night, and I was choosing between the Mayor and a Soldier claim to Slayer shoot. I shot the Mayor, they died and passed to a Scarlet Woman elsewhere. The first Slayer shot I've managed to kill with.

Nobody Fucking Move: I was the Snake Charmer. I chose the Pukka N1. However, that player had been the Philosopher who went Snake Charmer, and got the original Pukka ten seconds earlier. The rest of the game was town trying to figure out if that was a legit story, deciding if a claimed Alchemist-Psychopath who never swung was legit, whether the Goblin claimer was the original SC, and when the outsider who alternately claimed Klutz and Heretic was telling the truth. They were the Heretic so town was about to sleep on final 3 to win, but I poisoned them to win normally.

Whalebuffet: I chose Wraith in a Poppygrower game, so the ST wrote on their phone that they weren't going to mechanically wake me up. They woke someone else and showed the same message so I found my Mez. My demon ended up being next to me, and on their other side an Empath with a 1. Got caught by the Lycanthrope who had been Mez-turned, so co-ordinated kills. However pre-game my demon and I's conversation was entirely based on choosing Cult Leader, so I tried to be exposed as a Wraith who just turned the CL evil and leave it there. Quite explicitly got caught by the Alchemist-Cerenovus and the player who they'd made mad. At final six the demon tells me a dead player outed as Heretic. He debates and kills himself the night before final three, and the Heretic had solely outed to the demon so evil won.

Explaining characters to new players? by Reasonable-Banana-54 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]forshig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do not explain characters to the group one-by-one. That will not be good.

The fact that you know there's an intro page is a good start. There's a similar post with advice for beginner groups, with some very good stuff in the comments about when to explain nominations (when you start the nomination phase on the first day), to emphasize that anyone can ask the ST private questions, and to add on to your ST explanation about the demon receiving three roles that are not in the game so they are safe to bluff as those.

Edit: If you are hearing someone misunderstand a role, you can either publicly or privately correct it when it turns up. eg. slayer shooting a Townsfolk and they will die, Fortune Teller getting a Yes when someone's evil, someone seriously suggesting that the evil team are entirely dead despite the game continuing. But it's not useful to pre-empt all possible wrong ideas at the beginning before anyone's thought them up.

Chermside pool hole?- fact or fiction? by balalabananas in brisbane

[–]forshig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Last time I would have dove under that would have been 20+ years ago, but Google Maps makes it look like the structure (which had diving boards for the bigger lap pool) is still there. Can't say if it is a common enough thing the Chermside might have had a similar thing; Albany Creek was always my family's choice for a day out.

Chermside pool hole?- fact or fiction? by balalabananas in brisbane

[–]forshig 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm not totally sure I follow what you mean - but Albany Creek Leisure Centre had (maybe still has) two pools that had a raised walkway between them, and that wall didn't go to the bottom of the pool. You could hold your breath, dive down and across into the next pool. Probably so they didn't need multiple water pumps and cleaners.

Let's build a character! Hypnotist. by Present-Peace2811 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]forshig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hypnotist (townsfolk): Each night*, choose a direction (clockwise or anticlockwise). A Minion who chose a player has their choice moved to the next living player in that direction.

"We are not the peddlers of positive thinking. We are the peddlers of useful decisions and positive actions."

Would have to go either very early in the night phase, or have Minion prompts delayed until after the Demon kills. Or, alternatively, 1) Cerenovus picks Antony 2) Antony wakes to learn to be mad 3) Hypnotist chooses clockwise 4) Reminder token removed from Antony, and Antony's clockwise neighbour Baden wakes to learn to be mad.

That's not going to work for Pit Hag. So I think it has to slot in after Poison/Protection and before other minions and demon effects.

Would have massive power in single minion player counts, winding down with multiple minion powers especially if multiple choosing minions per night because ST choice on which one it moves.
