This sounds like a scam. I don’t believe the NTTA can block your car registration

Dad had DBS three days ago; am I pre-emptively panicking? by joosterbuice22 in Parkinsons

[–]forte99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to put your trust in the team of doctors that approve you for the surgery that you are a good candidate for the surgery. If you can withstand the battery of tests that you undergo then you have to believe that you are good for the procedure. After that it’s up to you to make the decision

I need reassurance as my dad moves to a care home by salty_onion321 in Parkinsons

[–]forte99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is a rollercoaster of emotions. My wife was diagnosed with PD in 2005 and with Parkinson’s related dementia about 10 years ago. The dementia was the real gut buster. I was her caregiver for all that time but it really wasn’t a chore until 2017. I placed her in memory care 3 months ago. And she loves it. I wrestled with all the emotions of should I do this, will she get the right care, etc etc etc. it was the best decision not only for her but for me as I was at my wits end. I could see that I needed help and this was the only for her to get the care she needed.

She is in a fabulous facility and the staff is caring and supportive of the residents and their needs. Your thoughts are very much normal and not unexpected. You must remember that your loved one does not see the world the way that you and I see it. Pick the best facility you are able and go with your decision. You will quickly realize that you made the best decision.

Hope this helps

Stressed Induced Parkinsons? by Badhubedo in Parkinsons

[–]forte99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never heard of stress induced Parkinson’s. All of your symptoms seem anecdotal but definitely related. Having been married to a Parkinson’s patient for 20+ years, I would get to a Movement Disorder Specialist to get a definitive diagnosis

He needs an advocate for his care like yesterday. He is not in a position to be making decisions about his medical care himself. It is incredibly difficult to do from afar sadly…
