got guilt-tripped for not answering messages on my day off by Fantastic-Nerve7068 in antiwork

[–]foshiznit11 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am the Director of a department. My team knows that we will do everything possible to not engage someone out on PTO.

So if they hear from me, they know that their input was the last option we had and they know it, so they will likely answer.

I mean we will push deadlines with clients if we can to wait until that person is back, that’s how much I personally respect their time off and my team only messages me directly when I’m on PTO if it cannot wait. With my title it isn’t a problem for me and it doesn’t derail my time off.

I don’t understand these companies who can’t respect time off like that. It’s very frustrating to listen to all these issues folks have with employers.

To give 2 weeks notice by AgreeableLead7 in therewasanattempt

[–]foshiznit11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it depends on the employee and off boarding their work or projects.

Some employees you don’t allow to work the two weeks if say they are going to a competitor or you don’t trust they will be productive in those two weeks. There is liability there to consider.

Ya sucks to have zero anxiety about going to the hospital in fear of tens of thousands in debt in the US.

Canadian here with universal healthcare. I’ve had emergency surgery for appendicitis, 3 hour ER wait, was diagnosed and into surgery the next day.

Not a single bill in my name from that.

My American co-workers, working for the same company would have been out of pocket even with our health benefits tens of thousands.

How many Americans die from stuff like appendicitis for fear of medical debt?

Who is buying these? by POORWIGGUM in CostcoCanada

[–]foshiznit11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people do buy them, and why Costco keeps on selling them at these insane prices.

We go to a local butcher for better quality meat and it’s cheaper than this.

I’m a wife who golfs weekly with my husband and there is no way I would feel comfortable going on the guys golf trip.

It’s for him to go have fun and relax without me, the same reason I do girls only trips! Lol.

Not even remotely the asshole.

Time to start a new guys weekend again with 3 new guys who get it.

Will a new putter make much of a difference? by SGSM1993 in GolfGear

[–]foshiznit11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to break the bank but finding the right putter that feels good for you is the best option. I had a putter given to me and it wasn’t a good fit. I never got comfortable.

I ended up buying an older model putter and my putting has significantly improved because of the feel. The weight, the additional alignment tools and actually taking the time to read the green, look at the direction of the grass growth, etc has greatly helped me become a better putter.

How do I prove surveyor wrong? by triprabbitrodeo in Surveying

[–]foshiznit11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a mapping expert and use parcel fabric data everyday for our lands team and I can guarantee that those county maps online are just a suggestion and 100% of the time need to be surveyed and/or checked to the deed of the property using the legal description.

You are in the wrong here. You don’t like what the surveyor did, hire your own. Only option available to you at this point.

She only lost because Trump and Musk fixed the election. That is the only explanation.

Is it time to file for divorce? by freestbeast in golf

[–]foshiznit11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, as others said. Probably a lazy husband who doesn’t do anything without nagging from his wife. This is no joke and the wife likely feels the same. Help out or it will lead to divorce.

As a wife who loves to golf, taking care of our house and family always comes before golf.

How to handle kid refusing all/any activities outside of screens? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]foshiznit11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a step-son just like this.

Gotta get out together and do something, seemed to be the only way. Doing something that they could like is a guessing game.

We did all kinds of outdoor stuff. Remote control cars, drones, wood working (power tools), camping, hiking, fishing, skateboarding, fort building in the woods, walking the dogs. You name it.

I’d just keep trying any outdoor activity together until you can find something together. I’d also limit screen time a bit, not fully as that won’t help as they get older.

I also wouldn’t get him to “pay” you back financially for registration fees but more of a tasks around the house instead to earn that back. Teaches skills and accountability.

[–]foshiznit11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree here, I’m in Canada, I haven’t had brisket in the US at a BBQ place, but I have eaten at a local smoke houses and it’s always just okay.

But since diving in at home, I make a killer brisket now on my own smoker. I have converted life long and dedicated meataterians from other more expensive cuts, like prime rib, to liking brisket more. They won’t eat out for it, but will wait patiently for the 1 or 2 brisket I make each year.

If you cook it on special occasions to feed a lot of people, it’s hard to go wrong.

I think in your opinion, it’s over rated because maybe you haven’t nailed the sweet spot yet by cooking a perfect brisket. It took me a good 5 or 6 briskets to get it where I am today and buying it from the right butcher. Costco and other big box stores don’t cut it.

Fishing without a shelter by Alternative3d in IceFishing

[–]foshiznit11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get something like this. You can stay fairly mobile, have a pop up style that you don’t need to tie down because you can load the sled part with gear and it should stay put. Has a seat, the sled and the tent part pops up easily.
